I am trying to find another Bar to have drinks in! Since I have been more than happy with my 9700 thought I would make this a stop along the way to the MSI bar!

Nah, I'm a Chaintech user JM. I own one MSI board, and it's collecting dust in the closet.

LOL, the first time I typed that I spelled "board" as "bored"... that's a Freudian slip if there's ever been one... guess that tells you what's up around here eh JM?

I see, cool I was personally never a fan of the Chaintech board. it has a nice feature load, but really nothing that Asus or even Abit doesn't have, and it's rather expensive isn't it? I hear it's not too bad at OC though

I don't know if you noticed or not but my next board is not Epox...I still like Epox (more than I do Abit) but I was unimpressed with 8rda rev 1.1 and 8RGA wasn't in great supply when I bought this...

My next board will probably be another Epox, but this board ought to be sweet...goes under the watercooler next week...

I personally went for the Chaintech because of the 2.15 V vcore setting. It's got about every other feature under the sun as well, but that's the one that really stood out to me. That doesn't matter to non-watercoolers, but to me that was a big deal. And yeah, I've heard of some amazing FSB clocks on this thing. My lousy RAM won't let me hit anything near 200 MHz though...

I still have yet to had time to do the wire trick on my 2400 rig. Might do that this weekend but really don't want to have to get that SK-7 off of there again.

both Epox and Abit had up to 2.3v...or wait, the Epox goes up to "only" 2.2v...nevertheless...still pretty high.

Does the Chaintech have VDD adjustments? That, and the SATA, is what sold me on the NF7-S. The VDD (chipset) is adjustable up to 1.7v (on the Epox 8RGA+ it goes up to 2.0! ) and allows for some pretty high FSB overclocks..I am hoping for 2.4Ghz/210fsb, or maybe higher if i v-mod my board...with my crystal orb and southbridge cooling installed this board is gonna fly.

I don't really buy or even consider anything except Abit or Epox, lol.

No, the Chaintech doesn't have VDD. I didn't realize the Epox supported up to 2.2 V, I thought I saw 1.85 V in a roundup somewhere. Then again, those were all preliminary boards. Still, I just can't go back to a green PCB . I'm kind of afraid of Abit, a friend of mine got an extremely buggy KT7-RAID (but then again, all KT133 boards were buggy LOL) and replaced it with a buggy KG7-RAID... then again, that thing died not too long after he sold it, so perhaps it was just defective. Either way, I'm a little leery of Abit because of that. Perhaps I should just get over it, this guy is cursed after all .

I dunno....I am a bit leary of Abit for those same reasons. I had lots of "issues" with my KT7-Raid, but it was not an "A" VIA chipset. Rule number 1, never buy a VIA chipset that doesn't have an "A" after it. I also had a BF6 and a BX6-II back in my Intel days. They always seemed about 80% finished, and I had to figure out how to make the rest work. Really frustrating.

I love their manuals, but manuals don't make the hardware go......

Aren't Abit boards made by some other familiar company? Like ECS or Gigabyte or something....I heard that somewhere.

I don't know about that...KT333 is pretty good

I'm venturing into Abit because I refuse to buy anything but Abit or Epox
