How is CentOS from a server stand point and installation wise? Is it based off another distro?
./
Sadly since I have never been able to get a GUI / Windows Manager installed on Debian, this is all I have

hehe I should post a shot of my Gentoo server then too!
Hey, I like the look though! Straight to the point.
It's a clone of RH Enterprise Linux. CentOS 4 (and RHEL4) is based on Fedora Core 3 in terms of package versions - but stable releases and with full updates until 2008 and security updates until 2012. I got tierd of the constant 6 month update cycle with Fedora.Originally Posted by carlwill
Basically it's RH Enterprise Linux, but without RH support. IMHO it's a great choice for a server if you're familiar with the RH/Fedora way and can't afford or don't want/need the Red Hat support (plus the RH documentation is excellent and freely available)

My little ongoing project that seems to be going pretty slow lately for the time I have.
Arch Linux with fluxbox window manager. Tried to create my own icon, and I know it's
ugly. (Graveman) The icons are enabled on fluxbox via idesk.
Doh, if you click on it, the screen image will enlarge and clear up what looks like garbled fonts.
Another screenshot. My desktop alternates three backgrounds every
minute or so, that I downloaded from an arch-linux-related image site. also, the firefox icon, if you spotted it in the first shot, comes from gentoo.

...Does anybody else feel like Congress simply bailed themselves out? Isn't that what they really mean by a bailout?
