Monitor only turns on after 2 reboots, help

Hi, I'm having a problem with my monitor.

Problem: When I reboot the monitor does not come back on eventhough the computer is turned on and working. It even happens when I shut down completely not just restarting. When I turn it off again and restart it then everything comes on.

When rebooting the first time the power indicator is blinking on and off (orange), it doesn't seem to connect when the computer is turned back on.

The second reboot has the orange light solid for a split second then powers on normal (green).

Any ideas why this is happening? Does it have something to do with my power supply?

    Monitor: Samsung 19" SnycMaster 900NF
    Power Supply: 400Watt Antec
Video Card: Geforce 2 GTS 64mb

    Thank you for your help

Hmmm...are you sure when you reboot the computer is working fine? I mean you can't see anything, so how do you know 100%? Just wondering because video signal has everything to do with the computer, not PS.

Ar you getting the standard single beep when you power up and the monitor doesn't come on? Like tawcan said, it sounds more like the PC isn't booting properly than a VC or monitor problem.

Thank you guys for the replies, sorry it took so long for me to reply. I only have access at work.

I checked at home and the fans come on (that's what made me assume everything was working).

    No standard beep on POST.
    Only the fan comes on.

What could I try to fix the problem?

    bump

Anyone have any ideas? Probably not since I have to bump this but I thought I'd try again.

It's an odd problem. I thought it may be heat related but even on cold boots (after a day with the computer off) I get the same problem.

    Thanks for reading my post.

Oh wait... do normal systems beep on restart? (Can't remember, don't have speaker set up on mine )

If it does...then it's most likely that something in your system shorts out on reboot.

Try using only CPU, RAM, and video card. Boot into windows, then try rebooting. See if the same thing happens.

Same thing happens with my sisters box!
Though hers would die when system went to "turn monitor off" mode, also - then she would have to rigorously shutdown/playwith plug/reboot/unplug and try random combinations to get it to work.. so i told her just to leave the damn thing on until i got there, and i told her how to disable "turn my monitor off after.... " in power management.. lol. (she lives out of state.. )
She has this POS 49.99 abc warehouse special of a 12 inch color monitor, though.. i was just blaming it on that.. This shorting deal makes me curious, though..

    Anyone else's box do this?

i think this is a psu problem, it only has enuff juice to power up some of your parts at once and on the 3rd try has all the caps full up and can initiate the cpu.

try unhooking the floppy, cd rom and pci cards and leave only 1 stick of ram , one hdd and the video card in.

if it starts then , then its a very good chance your psu is too weak.

let me know if this works.
