The only change I made was to switch the Asus and Gigabyte boards for overclocking purposes, and it worked. I plan to move my main box into a Haswell setup with some of the tax return money next year.

I will be getting an ASUS Z87 Deluxe motherboard, and Core i7 4770 cpu round about September and will be getting a USB Keyboard since it doesn't have a PS2 port for the keyboard that I currently use.

Motherboard at present is the ASUS P7P55D Deluxe which uses the P55 chipset, and a first gen Core i7 cpu, specifically the Core i7 870. Can't stand the VIA soundchip that is on my motherboard, it's not good when compared to a HD Audio chip from Realtek or my Xonar Essence STX.

Re: What Mainboard do you have?

Well the 'lil ASUS Mini-ATX worked well, but for other incompatibility reasons I had to get a newer board for my main comp and so the ASRock Fatality migrated to Mom's computer with the 4170 16 Gig of 1866 Ram (up from 1333) and a MSI 7850. Win 7 Ultimate.

My main machine now is ASUS 990FX Sabertooth R2.0 with a FX 8350, 16 Gig Ballistix 1866, Coolermaster 750W, Antec Khuler 920 liquid cooling, Win 8.1 Pro; My Gamer is a ASRock 990FX Extreme 9 with a FX 9370 CPU, 16 Gig Radeon 2133 Ram, Gigabyte 7990 Video, Antec 850W, Corsair H100i liquid Cooling, Win 7 Ultimate

Oh and the Kitchen Computer, the Ep0x 939 with the 148 Opty is now a second MSI 990FX G-80 with a FX 4350 CPU, 16 Gig Radeon 2133 Ram, Sapphire 7950 Vid, Freezer 7 Pro II Cooler, forgot what PSU Win7 Ult. This board has THX Audio on board and it sound great with a Logitech Z623 2.1 setup. I did this so the Warden could listen to her music in the kitchen. She uses that 'lil Surface 2 tablet usually anyway.

I'll probably be sticking with my Asus P5B Premium. However, I think I'll look to add some more RAM and see how low an X6800 might drop on eBay. I was planning a full system upgrade, but I don't see that happening and I'd rather get some monkey's off my back.

I am very curoius , because I am thinking about the Asrock K7S8X-E myself , just because the memory controller is considerably faster that this ole SiS 745 chipset..... and SiS is STABLE ....

That new board of mine has never been put together. Life is tough sometimes, maybe when I get back home mid November

Re: What Mainboard do you have?

Finally, a real upgrade. I snagged the MSI Z97S SLI Plus, plus a Pentium G3258 and 8GB G.Skill DDR3. I'm still getting used to a bunch of things, but with the included software, I'm up to 4.3GHz. Pretty damn good, really. The other cool thing is that they have an app to monitor and OC your system (only through the local WiFi).

I have a Biostar, ASRock, and Asus. ASRock for the win! I find the feature set and software to be better than the competition.

Re: What Mainboard do you have?

I tend to stick with Asrock, simply because it's the most common choice of small OEMs, they arent special or particularly great they just have a reputation for having less DOA boards, not sure if it's true.
