Both my cars have around 20 gal tanks. The total cost isn't really the point. It's the cost per gallon and the cost per trip to places like work, shopping, etc.

just gonna have to buckle down and get used to it. i know once my truck is paid off i won't be looking for a new one till the wheels fall off, or i pay cash for one of them "foreign jobs" used!
for what i pay a month for my loan i could fill up my tank 10 times. i was a dumb idiot when i bought it :/
i doubt we're going to find significantly more million year old plants to burn, or at least it won't be easily extracted. there's a chance we could get prices to level off a bit by reducing demand and finding more efficient ways of producing and extracting it.
not going to happen with all the chicken littles afraid of building new nuke plants (which would be safer AND more efficient than the old busted plants we currently are forced to keep chugging along) because enough radiation drifted over the midwest to kill an amoeba (that was already dying of prostate cancer)
these high prices are just going to force innovation i think, people are getting fed up, and not only that, many just can't afford it. oh and we need to stop subsidizing corn to make that stupid e85 crap!

I don't for a minute believe the rising cost has anything to do with real supply/availability of oil.

You think that, but its not true. Gas is a commodity, in that its value is very strongly ties with supply amd demand. Oil is used in so many facets of life, from plastic production to transportation. Any uptick in the economy increases oil consumption accordingly. This all happens out of sight of normal consumer
I think the PSU is dead on my work-in-progress home server.. the thing is less than 9mo old (OCZ)
What a crappy week.. everything I've touched blows up. First the HDD on the PC hooked up to my instrument at work died (luckily all data is on the network). then a heating unit on a different instrument blew a fuse, but in so doing melted the plastic fuse housing, preventing it from being replaced. Of course, the instrument is made by an extremely unresponsive company in England.. and to replace the whole unit will cost probably 3-4,000$ because its designed for "pharmaceutical testing"
