Agreed. I like the Civics and the Accords. I've never had a problem getting to shift a low RPM in the Civic (2001 model). Usually anything about 2750 makes the engine sound like a wind-up toy

The Passport was a rebadged Isuzu.
Honda has always used RPM to make power, not torque. Actually the 4-banger in the latest CR-V is the first Honda motor with higher torque output than horsepower. At the other end of the spectrum is the S2000, which has 120 horsepower per liter and is slow unless you shift near redline (9,000rpm).
But back to the video, that is incredible. I have great respect for the crew.

As far as a honda engine not being good for a daily driver... thats phooey...

Those engines are BUILT to operate at higher RPM...

Show me another car you rag on at near redline day in day out for years that won't break...

Just because you shift out of first at a grand higher doesn't mean anything...

My biggest beef with honda is that the only RWD is the s2000...

Their engines are soooo overbuilt its funny... which is why some serious car freaks (NOT ricers) make some amazing front drivers out of them... I mean i have a friend who can run a 13.5 out of a B16 motor in a civic jelly bean hatch... Thats v8 speed out of a 4 banger... naturally aspirated...

I wouldn't drive the car cause its FWD but still... you have to respect a motor that is capable of that...

Thats like take a chevy 350 and upping it 200 horsepower W/O boring, stroking, or adding any Forced Induction...
