Personally, I think not. We don't have that many questions about laptops, so I think the general tech. forum is fine for questions related to laptops.

Are there very many laptops made with AMD chips? I have used several in the last 10 years or so and every one an Intel chip in it.

Personally I think there should be. I had a question about my laptop a while back (yes it WAS an Inhell chip)and had to go to another forum.

I think that because there are more and more AMD based laptops coming out, this forum should have a section dedicated to them.

i think that there should be a laptop forum. a lot of people have questions about laptops. this forum is not only about AMD chips, but about computers in general.

yes there should... but not many ppl will have AMD laptops...

    because of this:

Mobile AMD Athlon XP are worse than a Mobile Celeron...

    example:
Mobile AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with a 2GHz core speed loses not to a Mobile Celeron 2.4GHz, but a 2GHz. Sad isnt it?

First off...Im not being a mod right here...but never give up on a good idea. If it were me....Id test out the notion via an appropriate Thread...maybe in GF Technical. This is how forums/sub forums are born if you will. Thread gets busy...develops a community..gets stickied....on it goes. Jim

I think the Laptop questions are somewhat limited. Most of them will be "do you recommend laptop A or B" anyway, since laptops are not userr serviceable in the same way as PCs are I don't think it warrants an entire forum.

I agree with what's being said, general is the right place for laptop questions/opinions.

I've always loved laptops, and I generally try to answer as many lappy questions that are asked here as possible.

But, almost always, I end up dealing with an Intel lappy or recommending one over an AMD lappy.

I don't think there's enough traffic for a laptop forum and that those discussions are going to go under the General Tech Help and Discussion.

BTW: I asked for it a long time ago...and I asked for a "Mobile & Peripheral" forum...it didn't go over...so I'm guessing it may in the future as AMD progresses...but right now, it probably isn't going to happen.

Maybe we should petition to AMD

I think no sub forum is needed until AMD gains a larger share of the laptop market...

Until then... General Forum and the software forum seems to take care of it!
