    My thoughts on Vice City

Im awestruck is about all i can say.. this game is so much fun that i can only take about 15 or so minutes of playing it before i need a break for fear of brain overload.

I almost had a seizure when i got that motorcycly outside after getting my new suit and Nina's 99 red ballons came on the radio..

ya its a really cool game. the popup is bad though even at max draw distace, and downright horable if i turn the framelimiter off. now i am running in win98 compatablity mode to solve that and i get glitchs with the hud overlay and menu that i have to hit exc a few times to get rid of as well as crackeling sound during cutsceens but despite all the hasle i am still enjoying the game a lot.

bad popup = car,s buildings, people, appearing all of a sudden
and the bubbles i think are meant to be like rain on the "camera"..when you use a chainsaw on someone that's down you get blood splatter like that too

After slogging thru GTA III at a choppy 733mhz, Vice City on the new rig is a blast!

what controls do you use? I played it on ps2 and loved it, but have been having a hard time adjusting to it on the pc. I'm used to just using the directional pad to move back and forth and to have auto target on.

I don't have vice city for PC but for GTA3 PC I just use WASD for movement (in and out of cars) and use the mouse to aim. Mouse aiming makes it so much cooler, can't do that on ps2

I love the game, and also GTA3. Only problem I've had was the stuttering when the game tried to access the CD at random points. After downloading/using the no-CD .exe the problem was fixed.

When turning off the frame limiter, the games is rather unstable. Even textures fail to load on nearby buildings. With frame limiter on, it works well, but the framerate takes a hit. Is there a way to not use the frame limiter and have the game run well?

Also, is there some gore hack?

I loaded Vice City and they movie part of the game starts then it locks up my entire pc. I am running a ATI Radeon 9700 and wondering if the drivers for this card is causing my system lock up problems? I need help with this problem.

Sounds like there is no wheel support in Vice either . What a shame, a game that fun and Im gonna have to learn how drive with the stupid keyboard again , HELLO , ITS 2003 PEOPLE .
Slack asses had 6 months before pc version is available , rather than code wheel support , they sat around and talked about how great they are .. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR HAVING TO DRIVE CARS IN A MODERN GAME WITH THE GD KEYBOARD . To whoever made that exec decision , u suk . If there is wheel support in the game I withdraw my previous rant but it sounds another port of the ps2 version with nothing done for the PC , probably only has 8 save slots too , sheesh .
Anybody with game , can you confirm these items for me
    a) wheel support , or any kind of controller for a PC
    b) more than 8 save slots

Might be saving my money on this one , driving with the keyboard is that weak .

yep only 8 save slots and i doubt there is wheel support directy but i imagine you can use a 3rd party program to make the wheel act like an anolog gamepad.

oh and use win98 compatablity mode to run without the frame limiter and without texture loading issues.

It does support the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad im using. In not a real race sim guy so its good enough for me. Im having a blast. I paid $49.95 for this game(which I rarely do. I usually wait until games come down to at least $39.95) and its worth every penny. What im thrilled about is that it runs beautifully at 1600X1200X32 using 4XAA and 8X AF.
