currently as some of you may know i run a dedicated moh:aa server.
today i was playing and a couple of guys from a clan called "total team control clan" or something to that effect came onto the server.
they started trying to recruit me for their clan, but i don't respect clans for the most part, and i certainly don't want to be part of one myself.
so i told them no, and then they started telling me that they 0wned my server and all that, so i tell em they're idiots and they're getting banned, well they used some kiddy script to create an illegal opperation in the dedicated server and that caused it to go down.
i banned their ip's and they were gone after that. this case was easy to control because i was home to restart the server, but next time it may be down for hours, and i have a lot of people who frequent my server, and i'd hate to dissapoint my gamers.
what i'm looking for is some sort of fix or mod i may be able to run to minimize the effectiveness of the attack.
our dsl connection is behind a hardware firewall in the router, and i only have the ports needed to run the game and have it show up in ase/gamespy open in the forwarding tab of the router settings.
should i run a software firewall as well? is there some kind of anti-hack software made for moh? or is there a pk3 file that may help?
i'm already running delator20 to patrol the server, but obviously it's only good for cheaters, and not so much for hackers.
any other server admins deal with amnything like this?
btw i'll give you the supsects names
TCREGRET (appeared to be the ring leader)
just a heads up, it's pretty lame that i'm gonna have a problem running a game server who's main purpose is to provide a place for people to have fun, and it gets ruined by some idiotic script kiddies, kinda makes you wonder where the love in that family was.
