    Re: Is my Raptor bad??

I have the same problem, you sent yours back and got a new one and the noise stopped? I have used filemon and diskmon to see what is happening in idle, it is reading and writing wbem logs, system dlls etc. So how would getting a new one stop that noise? Is it supposed to be silent when accessing those files or is it not supposed to be accessing them in the first place when idle? Its not a loud noise like when you are defragging, just a very soft seek noise?

It wasn't really a seek noise, almost like a soft grinding noise. To me, it sounded as if the bearings in the drive were bad; which is why a new drive solved the problem.

no, it was a very random noise.
