I haven't tried the Geil Golden Dragon yet, but I did get the opportunity to test the Geil PC3200 ULD Dual DDR Kit. I could obtain the highest fsb w/ it. It ran 230fsb w/ 5-3-2-2.0 timings.

Geil does not fair so well with all motherboards.
Just hit the search button at the top and enter "Geil".

Im using Geil PC3200 Ultra memory as of now. My first time using a Geil product, and I really like how they package their products. Cust. support OTOH isn't their strong suit. So if you're a newbie maybe not so good then.
Anyway, I'd recommend the PC3200 Ultra memory, but just be forewarned that it requires lots of voltage. Make sure that your motherboard has this option and can do so upto 2.8volts minimum.
My Soltek maxes @ 2.8 VDIMM but that's just enough for me to get the RAM up to 210 MHz CAS 2.0 3-3-11 stable. It's very good memory for the money- make no mistake!
See my sig- I run @ 166 FSB since it kinda bothers me that my BIOS reports as some unknown "Athlon XP" when I run @ 200x10. Reports as XP 2400+ when @ 166 FSB.![]()

Most people that say Geil sux has never owned any. They go on the opinion of a nOOb overclocker that can't get it to run 200mhz on an old motherboard that won't support 266fsb. I've built at least 40 systems using Geil PC3200 and the NF7-S. The slowest one would hit 221mhz w/ 6-3-3-2.0 timings in Dual Channel. The only problem I've had out of Geil is one bad stick out of what, 80? I believe that's a pretty good ratio.

ive had experience with geil..once was enough. i bought the 2x256MB Goldeb dragon pc3200 dual channel kit at newegg, and it took me 6 hours just to get the darned thing to boot up in dual channel mode. i got it to run OK at 200mhz fsb, however, it wasnt entirely stable..it couldnt run at its rated timings stable enough, so I had to increase the T(ras) to 9. I also contacted geil tech support 2 times, neither which was replied. needless to say, I sold the sticks to another guy, disappointed at the way geil treats their customers. Incidentally, that guy cannot get his board (kt333) to boot up with the ram, in single or dual channel. He has RMAed the ram, which I am sending back to him. I certainly hope he has better luck this time.Originally posted by Shayne68

I don't know anything about the Golden Dragon ram bro, your experience w/ it may not have been pleasant and I can't give an opinion either way since I've never tried it. I've never had to contact Geil over any of their products therefore I don't know how their customer service is. The only bad stick I've ever gotten was RMA'd through newegg.
I was refering to the Geil PC3200 Dual DDR Kit as being good ram for me on the NF7-S board. I was thinking about trying the Dragon, but I don't see the point w/ all the trouble everyone is having w/ it.

Shayne, I have owned it. Same experience here with 3200 Ultra dual in A7N8X Deluxe, ran fine single but not over 175 FSB in dual regardless of voltage to 2.9. Each stick tested fine with Memtest.
Geil owns up to a problem with nforce2 boards but says nvidia has a fix. Your mb manufacturer may or may not have implemented the fix. Check their Taiwan site user forum for an idea of the issues. They have not tested to 200 FSB on A7N8X that I know of.
Newegg rma'd it even after 30 days with no restock. I popped in two Corsair XMS 3200 C2 and can run over 200+ FSB with no issues. You pays you money, you takes you chances. To each his own.![]()
