9800 nonpro versus 9700Pro

Why does the 9800 nonpro cost $40 less than a 9700Pro?

Is it better to get a 9800 nonpro with samsung 2.8 mem or a 9700 Pro for the same price?

What is your opinion on this 9800 non pro versus 9700Pro?

the 9700pro has faster memory, and a higher original MSRP.

if you can find a 9800 w/ 2.8ns memory, GET IT

the Radeon 9800SE is with 2.8ns mem chip

IMR the 9800SE is even worse than a 9800 non pro as it only has 4 pipelines versus the 8 on the non pro

i think jacdude is confusing the 9800nonpro and SE.

The 9800se is an R350 partial reject. it may or may not work with 8 pipes, but for some reason, it failed.

It is not made for marketing reasons, because they have the 9600 and 9200. The 9800SE is a high-price (for producing) card, so it must be made for the reason above (because you make SOME profit selling it, but maybe not as much as if you sold a 9600 instead. My guess is it also might be to alleviate supply problems with the RV350 (if there are any).
