    Signature Regulations and Hosting Options

    Signature Regulations:

Maximum Size (px by px): 650 x 275.
Maximum Size (KB): 50KB total for all images.

Sig Sizer Image - This is the maximum allowed size that includes images AND text in your signature. If you have questions to font size comparison to this image, all requirements are based upon a 1024x768 view for which these forums are designed. You may check your signature in your USER Control Panel to be assured it meets our dimension standards. Filesize for images will be enforced upon inspection without warning. Signature editing will be done at our discretion and noted in your signature.

Please adhere to these rules when you post your sig. Failure to do so may result in a request to reduce the size of your signature (or edited by an Administrator without warning if the signature is in breach of these rules to an extreme that will be decided by this site's administration) and if you do not comply within a reasonable amount of time, the signature will be removed by an Administrator.

If you see a signature that is too large, please PM/email the owner of the signature and ask him/her to reduce its size. If you receive flak or no response, please contact a moderator and appropriate action will be taken.

If you have any questions regarding the signature policy, please feel free to PM/email a moderator.

    Hosting Options:

I, Namek, am currently in a position to host just about anyone’s signature (thanks Dave). If you want it hosted, email it to me (it has to be within our regulations) @ namek@amdmb.com and I will email you back with a link to it as long as it's appropriate and within the regulation. It will remain hosted until the world ends, Dave revokes my hosting, Dave's hosting goes down, some catastrophe happens and it is deleted, or if you email/PM me and ask me to remove it.

Your ISP probably offers webspace for using them as an ISP. Contact your specific ISP to find out whether they offer webspace to you or not. If they do, you may want to ask for instructions on how to access it as some ISPs have strange upload tools and may not work with a simple FTP client (like they should )

BBPix.com - BBPix is back up and running - thanks goes out to those guys who make that happen.

    VillagePhotos

    John C, AMDMB.com's Member Advocate

Members of AMDMB.com, if you didn't know it, John C is now AMDMB.com's Member Advocate. You may be asking yourself, what is a Member Advocate?

A Member Advocate is the person that you can go to and ask just about any question that you can think of that relates to AMDMB.com. JohnC will try to answer the question to the best of his knowledge, or if he doesn't know or would prefer to allow someone else to answer, will refer you to another person who will be able to help out.

A good example is if you're having a problem with another member on the site and you don't know what to do? PM/Email John and he'll probably ask you some questions and ask for posts or situations of what happened. From there, John will bring it in front of the staff and appropriate action will be taken.

Another example is say that you're having a problem accessing part of the site, or having an issue with a certain function. You can PM/Email John and he'll try to talk you through a way to fix the problem, or he will let you know that we're experiencing some sort of difficulty. If you happen to be the first person with the problem, then John will place it in front of the staff and usually The Wise One or Ryan will have to find what is causing the problem and the solution. At the time we find a solution, we'll either release a global announcment, or contact you and let you know the problem has been resolved.

To contact John, PM him or Email him.

This is what is in your contract isn't it John? Cause I just made all this stuff up

    Distributed Computing and You

Distributed Computing projects tend to be one of the largest competitions here at AMDMB.com (Probably second only to benchmarking).

    SETI@Home

SETI, or the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is a scientific effort seeking to determine if there is intelligent life outside Earth. SETI researchers use many methods. One popular method, radio SETI, listens for artificial radio signals coming from other stars. SETI@home is a radio SETI project that lets anyone with a computer and an Internet connection participate.

SETI is commonly referred to as "the search for little green men." To find out more information about this project and how to join the AMDMB.com SETI team, check out:

    Folding@Home

Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease.

    Find-a-Drug Forum

The Find-a-Drug project is a not for profit group that utilizes the unused CPU time of volunteer's computers to find new medications for treatment of some major diseases. FaD works by randomly creating thousands of molecules and then tests them to see if they interact with the target protein. These interactions may prevent the growth or spread of the disease in question.

Find-a-Drug allows you to work on any of several areas of research. Some of which include treatments for Cancer, HIV, MS, or Malaria. This feature allows you to decide which projects you want your computer work on and which projects you do not want to work on.
