    Farming advice

I'm going to be expanding by output in the next couple of weeks. Currently my 4 boxes are running directly through a 4 port router. Do I need to buy a switch or network hub to plug additional boards into and then run to the router? I ordered a kvm switch so I can monitor them. Thanks for the help.

Since they will only occasionally hit the internet, a hub will do fine and will be the cheapest solution.

I use a switch. Just connect the router and switch together and it should work. Note that if neither router nor switch is smart enough to autosense the cable, then you may need a crossover cable.

Nice catch and good idea to note. Sometimes if you get too cheapy with the switch (and it's not autosensing that they are two switches talking to eachother) or the router, you need a crossover cable to make the connect.

Thanks I should squeeze a few more starting tomorrow upgrading a box to a Barton from a 1700. Hope to get the power line for my rack in the basement run next week. I've got two more mbs and processors ready to go but not enough power to plug them up and run them. Thats if I really do get to take some time off, been really hectic at work, and this is supposed to be the slow time. By the way you just keep growing and growing you are really cranking out the units. Congrats.
