Old games that should be re-made

What are some great games of old that nobody ever made sequels to? It seems like some genre's do a better job of remaking games than others. This is rather annoying for people like me that pretty much game in every genre. I mean, FPS and RPG's remake games every few years (FFXI anyone?), but what about others?

I mean, where are all the good sim games from the past? Loads of those could have been re-made. Call me crazy, but i found simfarm and simtower strangely addicting. Now all we have is 50 flavors of "The Sims". Those things are terrible! and the sims online? I didn't realize they could package pure boredom and sell it.

But back to the original topic, how about space sims? Remember Tie fighter? Why has nobody jumped on a new version of that?

And although I was never hugely into it, I have a friend who wants to see a new version of Heretic.

Anyway, i had more, but they seem to have slipped my mind for the moment. Maybe I'll post back when i think of them. Plus, some games that I have been waiting for a new version of are finally going to come out.... like Lords of the Realm 3...been waiting for that forever.

I'd like to see a remake/update of Nox. I spent countless hours playing that game. Westwood discontinued it a while back. But the gameplay was excellent. Just needs a graphics facelift to be up to date.

    Remake Tie Fighter definitely.

And how about Blade of Darkness? Anyone remember that game? It's one of my favorite of all time, and takes the throne of "best game no one ever played", IMO.

    ExciteBike 64, on the N64

I'd love to see a quality sequel. Sim City is getting updates at least
