For God's sake, am I getting that old where kids are actually doing history reports on DOS !?!

DOS is originally a generic term and I've seen it used with other operating systems (ie CPM-DOS). PC-DOS and MS-DOS are practically the same thing, both Microsoft babies meant for the IBM PC and clone markets respectively.

I've never used Windows 1.0, but I've seen it. It reminded me of DOS SHELL (ever use the DOSSHELL command?). A primitive file manager with basic drop, drag and delete capabilities.

Ahh... those were the days. Having to write your own autoexec.bat and config.sys files to get games to work properly with sound drivers, setting IRQ's, mouse, keyboard settings, etc.

I hated windows 3.11 when it came out. Prior to that i was DOS only!

Then there were BBS's prior to the internet. lol.

I'm only 24 and its amazing to see how far things have come.
