Folding Frogs Crap thread!

Well shite! They're dropping like flies now. I've got another one down. It powered up normally and then it sort of flaked out. I stopped to check on it before bed and noticed that the memory wasn't flashing (it's an older case with a window and I'd picked up some of the Corsair with LEDs). I figured I'd just forgotten to start FAH. Moved the mouse to wake it up and nothing. Rebooted it. Got a win start up error. Rebooted it again and no win error, but never made it through to windows, rebooted itself. Got into BIOS to see if I had OC'd the biznatch too much and then the graphics went wonky. A few more reboots. A vid card reseat. Back into BIOS and graphics goes wonky again.

I'm thinking our local heat wave is killing off my PSUs. I'll have to try out a spare PSU on it tomorrow, but damn. Two rigs in one night. Farging Ouch!!

Try a Fortron Source PSU next.

My supplier swears by 'em. Very small % of problems, very stable, much used in servers and they make their stuff 'emselves !

Damn Kenny, that sucks! Might be the heat but I suspect the flaky power situation fubared a few of your rigs, hopefully just the power supplies. Noorman is right about the fortrons, they're good stuff, can take a hell of a beating and still live. I hope the electricians get the problem fixed!

Let an electrician have a quick look at the dead Psu's, if he can verify that an AC problem took them out you may be able to make an insurance claim ??.

BWM already knows this but my dual core is down. My mobo took a shit and has a voltage regulation problem. I am going to attempt to RMA it but I am missing the stock cooler for the chipset.

I should have a new motherboard within in the week. I am losing lots of PPD because of it

Have you contacted the importer about that ?

maybe you can send it back without the stock cooler !

I 've read about owners who had removed the stock cooler for a better one and replaced the stock cooler before RMA-ing; in many cases this is visible, but they got an RMA nonetheless ...

Definately a good idea erik. I'm sure AMD can tell by looking whether the chip was damaged by removing the stock cooler or some other reason.

Crap, Crap, Crap, !!!
Went off to work today (like any other), had a good day, came home, evening meal etc and then checked my Folding rigs to find the Adsl connection had dropped out in the early hours of the morning,
So during that time until I reset the connection all my rigs had run out of work,
All up and running again now, should be a nice points jump when they all load together, ,
just those Wu's that could have been done while I was away, ,
