    im trying to find out who makes my CD ROM drives being that they wer given to me.
    In device manager it says
    JLMS XJ-HD1655
    Lite ON LTR 48246S

    how do you flash firmware , every site i go to says go into DOS mode with a boot disk and run the program from a floppy, NOPE, wont work says this program cannot be run in DOS mode?? WTF. Im running windows XP

    Look for your model here this is a windows flasher here go to the downloads section.

    Here should be the one for your DVD Just look for your model. This should allow you to update from with-in windows.


    BEWARE FLASHING YOUR FIRMWARE CAN BE DANGEROUS and render them useless.
    Look at other problems first like virtual drives and other things, although your games are old it is still possible.

    I downloaded the firmware files but when I try to flash from within windowsXp i get an error saying wrong drive and it will not let me select the proper drive, sooo i tryed a boot disk the tryed EXE them in DOS , but no luck it said program not able to run in DOS mode ....??
    me= confused
