Can I use my Cable modem to make free calls??

Hey guys, I normally wouldn't post something soo off-topic but my local phone provider is an absolute rip off even for local service and has treated me badly. I have a cable modem with a live internet IP -- I have a top quality microphone, sound card, speakers, headphones, etc and have talked pc to pc before.... but what prog can i use to call an actual phone number??? Is there anything maybe on Kazaa or Direct Connect file sharing?? Please let me know how this works if anyone knows, if you'd rather not post a response than e-mail me to: sethklette@hotmail.com ---

    Thank you all,

    Seth

VoIP, to the best of my knowledge is no longer free anywhere... there are some solutions out there that are similar to what you are looking for...

Examples of this would be Roger Wilco, TeamSpeak and a few others. These are not phone calls per se, more real-time voice communications.

Another alternative is a company called Vonage (www.vonage.com) which offers VoIP services (unlimited) for a flat monthly fee.
