I have enjoyed the tutorials and managed to make the first one into lightning!

I am a graphics student who is beginning to learn Photoshop.

However in the other tute there are a few filter flags that I cannot get entry into; they won't go into bold.

pixelate [the one used in the tute]
distort
brush strokes
artisitc
sketch
texture
vanishing pt
didgimarc

and a few others; am I doing something wrong? I have photoshop CS3 but not the extended one, though that shouldn't matter. I have tried select all and clicking on the layer but still I am barred from the above. This is a proper version; not a demo or anything. I am perplexed. Any udeas?
