Oregon University Ban lifted, so there wasn't a gun free zone

in 2011 the Oregon Court of Appeals overturned the Oregon University System’s ban of guns on campuses, allowing those with permits to carry concealed guns on the grounds of these public colleges (Oregon's State Board of Higher Education retained its authority to have internal policies for certain areas of campus, and adopted a new policy in 2012 that bans guns in campus buildings). In both cases, it was ruled that state law dictates only the legislature can regulate the use, sale and possession of firearms, and therefore these systems had overstepped their authority in issuing the bans. See the "Guns on Campus: Campus Action," page for more information on these rulings, board policies and other campuses that allow concealed carry on their grounds.

You still don't get it, the more media coverage and the more mass shootings make my guns go up in value because I know how both sides are going to react. I win either way, less mass shooting or bigger bank account.

So help out my bank account with more mass shooting, we know they are going to continue to happen.

We would have far less gun violence IF:
    A. Hand guns were always illegal
    B. We were actually able to control our borders

That ship has sailed long ago, and we can't control our borders. (E.G. Ever hear of someone smoking pot? It's been illegal for a couple hundred years and a lot of it is imported daily)

So we're left in the bizarre situation where the government makes gun laws that mainly affect citizens who don't need regulation while criminals go about their business ignoring all laws.

I hunt and have had guns of some sort most of my life.

There are millions of hand guns here already, so outlawing them would only mean that only criminals would have handguns.

And the point is? Please keep semblance of relavence to situation. I.e. Victims were armed, victims weren't armed, shooter was legally concealed carry and went nuts, etc.

Same old garbage from the radical left anti-gun crowd. When are they going to figure out guns aren't going away. When are they going to figure out guns are a constitutionally guaranteed right. They can't be legislated away they are here to stay.

The government can try to legislate guns out of existence it won't work. It's impossible to enforce the laws the radical left anti-gunners want.

^^ Well, I guess the government could try to kill 50 million law-abiding Americans. Unfortunate or fortunately things like that only happen in communism, fascism and radical Islam. Just so I know who the enemy is which one are you?

The point is, it has been reported the University was a gun free zone which it is not. Do you understand now? Any questions? I thought I would clear this up.

As it turns out, it was a gun free zone as much as it could be within the law. In other words, only people with concealed carry permits could carry guns. But as you dig deeper, even carrying with a permit being permissible isn't exactly true. The security guard was armed with mace and not a gun.

So it was a gun free zone until the school was told it couldn't make itself so and then it was made to be as much of one as it could be.

The school also goes around the concealed carry exemptions through their codes of conduct which clearly states that carrying a weapon is not allowed.

^^^^ The security was unarmed and police escorted a concealed carry Air Force vet off the campus..

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/...b0af3706dfdcd1

Cavin noted that all campus security officers were on campus Thursday, none of whom were armed, as is campus policy.

John Parker, a 36-year-old Air Force veteran who told HuffPost that he was on campus at the time, said he learned of the shooting from law enforcement officers sweeping through campus buildings. Parker said he was carrying a concealed handgun.

"I told the officer about the gun on my hip," Parker said. "He searched me, took the gun, escorted me back to my car and gave me my gun back and told me to have a nice day."
I can see why they escorted him off, logical. Were there an armed response in the main campus at first point of contact history shows the ending is usually different.

Lol, yeah sure it is! Basically anyone who tried to walk into that school with a firearm for self-defense would immediately have suspicions cast upon them and you know it. And as their "policy" states, it's a great way to get expelled from the school anyway.

Remember what Big Brother says...if you see someone with a gun, contact the authorities right away!

In a situation as such and you are making fun of the police disarming people. But if you was a police officer you would come on boy let's get em. LOL
