Anyone else see the first installment of John Adams last night on the tube?
Despite what critics may say? I enjoyed it

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0472027/

Ill also accept it's historical accuracy.
It struck me as convincing detail etc.

And we think we have problems. Id hate to have to write a 50M check

Dow just turned positive at 10:56. Up 20.
So much for the crash anticipated by the media.
Now they can retitle all their articles.

    Go figure. now its even

    Here comes the spin.

I dont know about you guys but I actually think its statistically more dangerous to walk into a 7-11 than walk near a crane.

Re: Rolleyes News of The Day

The part that absolutly drives me nuts - "Neighbors say they had complained about the crane, questioning whether it was attached" yadda yadda.

    1) New Yorkers whining about (anything) is news?
    2) Deli workers in New York City have ANY knowledge about Tower Cranes and how they are supposed to be managed?

Why the News Media would engage in this "I told them so" journalism is beyond me... it cannot help, and it HAS to hurt the investigation. Now every loudmouth in the nieghborhood is going to twist their testimony into logical pretzels in the wild hope that they might be able to sue the crane company. In the meantime, unless the actual facts are already known, the investigators will have a HELL of a time trying to figure out what has been going on over at that jobsite.

Irresponsible newsies manage to get me upset. I shouldn't let them, but they do 'nStuff.

Obama, seeking to be the first black U.S. president, has been calling on Democrats to look past racial divisions and to guard against intemperate rhetoric that he says has been sprouting on both sides.
    ...are they really this dumb?

Despite all the criticism of the more rate cuts I read at Forbes and elsewhere?
How does one argue with this?

    http://money.cnn.com/data/markets/

Understand...I know rate cuts arent a cure all.
But to turn heads around I agree mostly with what the Feds have done.

The Markets expect a Fed Rate cut of 34%. That's the cost of borrowing money. IF they do that, the banks will only be encouraged to stay on the same path they've been on for the last few years.

Now you watch; if the rate is only dropped from 3% to 2.25%, the market will plunge down in reaction. If they don't get it down a full point, they'll blame the Fed for not doing enough to counteract their own stupidity.

    Remember this skit?

Yeah, I've "lost" thousands of dollars in the Market this year... but I don't want to lose it all.

And after they collect, can we arrest them for Sedition? After all, when that note was written...

Actually, I hope they get it. I don't know if 8% is a valid interest rate, but it IS a promisory note, and should be honored.

Second Amendment Oral Argument: I'm very hesitant to draw inferences from oral argument, but this time I can't help it. Here's Lyle Denniston on SCOTUSblog:
In an argument that ran 23 minutes beyond the allotted time, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy emerged as a fervent defender of the right of domestic self-defense.
"With Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., and Justices Samuel A. Alito, Jr., and Antonin Scalia leaving little doubt that they favor an individual rights interpretation of the Amendment (and with Justice Clarence Thomas, though silent on Tuesday, having intimated earlier that he may well be sympathetic to that view), Kennedy’s inclinations might make him -- once more -- the holder of the deciding vote."
