Thomas Jefferson to John Page Fairfeilds Dec: 25. 1762.
... But the old-fellows say we must read to gain knowledge; and gain knowledge to make us happy and be admired. Mere jargon! Is there any such thing as happiness in this world? No: And as for admiration I am sure the man who powders most, parfumes most, embroiders most, and talks most nonsense, is most admired.

And the Wall St protest gets more "soldiers" marching. Thats what thuis right? An answer to Obama's call to arms made with his Hoffa discussion some weeks ago? Why are we surprised http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/05/politi...html?hpt=hp_t1

wait..I have the messages mixed...Obama suggested marching shows instead of br slippers and Hoffa said this "President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.

To borrow Glenn Reynolds famous tag line...they told me if I voted Republican all businesses would be at risk from the iron fist of government. A perfect example of overeach that I think is driven by misunderstanding what exactly "finished" lumber really is. Pitiful. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011...est=latestnews

Evidently it takes contributions to the Obama campaign and the democratic party to stay in business.

Re: Rolleyes News of The Day

    Hard to argue with logic.

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week:

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the
Iraq Theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of
2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the
same period. That means you are about 25 percent more likely to be
shot and killed in the U.S. capital which has some of the strictest gun
control laws in the United States, than you are in Iraq.

    Conclusion:

The U.S. should pull out of Washington DC.

    It works for me.

Man...that Interstate Commerce concept is sure getting a workout. Disnt Obama declare this wouldnt be a priority? You know...the Federal Government...seems to be is becomming and reinforcing a pretty sick codependant relationship with states and us too. Was a time some things were out of the reach of the Feds. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44806723...me_and_courts/

USPS stuff. I knew about the big prepayment deal they were facing and about what is called an overpayment....but wasnt sure exactly where it came from and why it wasnt negotiable. http://redtape.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2...om-post-office

Correct me if Im wrong..but is it true...Congress set up the retirement fund for the post offices...all the prepayment demands. Does government have access someway to those funds?
I just dont get the prepayment angle or the overcharge. Isnt that something the company usually negotiates with some "fund"...sorta like the medical coverage a company might set up for employees?
Why on earth would any company overpay the bill?
The only scenerio I can imagine..is during the bad years..."the fund" took a serious hit on investments...and to put things back on projections...a one time catch up payment was needed.
