I saw him play Ebony Eyes and many of his other hits as part of the Lineup in 1978 at the California Jam 2, Ontario Motor Speedway.

The show opened with Jean Michel Jarre (electronic space rock). First on stage was Bob Welch (with a crack back-up band lifted from Pat Travers Band at the time (Pat Thrall and Tommy Aldridge, if I remember right), then Dave Mason, Santana, Heart, Nugent (had what they called a heat stroke, but having watched a boot video about a year after the concert, if that wasn't an overdose on speed or coke, I'm not breathing now), Foreigner (first American tour, played a lot of stuff off there yet-to-be-released Double Vision album, which would go on to be the best selling album of that year), Aerosmith and then came Rubicon and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.

The NY Times is attempting their very own Woodward and Bernstein moment today with a new poll that suggests the opinion of SCOTUS is at an all time low. You can find the article at Memorandum if you care to read how they are paving the way for an Obamacare failure: Marginalize the court.

Then give this a read. Maybe the Times should have as well. Often the reasons for a low approval arent what we might expect. And according to this 42% was the most recent low in 2005.

29% of student loan borrowers never graduate.

    Wow.

Makes ya wonder what percentage of mortgage borrowers end up owning a home. I'll bet its less than we think.

    Oh the irony...

Little Bear Fire burning on Sierra Blanca

"Based on fire acreage and conditions, we're not expecting this to be a large, complex fire," he said. "It's a lightning fire in the wilderness. We'll probably see smoke for a while, but fire behavior is low to moderate."
    Meanwhile, a few days later...

That's one hell of a MODIS signature.

More irony: This is the place where they discovered a little bear cub that was the inspiration for Smokey the Bear.

^^Folks back East have no appreciation..nor should they about how big those fires can be.

Made me think of this for some reason. Probably not news to trout or Dutch but I found it interesting that its news for the Times.

If her repayments were not then being deferred because she was enrolled in night school, she would have been paying $700 monthly from her $2,300 monthly after-tax income as a photographer’s assistant. She says she is toiling “to pay for an education I got for four years and would happily give back.” Her degree is in religious and women’s studies.
I almost think someone stupid enough to take a loan for a "degree" in religious and women's studies deserves to be saddled with debt. Almost

The Manhattan Institute’s Heather Mac Donald notes that sinecures in academia’s diversity industry are expanding as academic offerings contract. UC San Diego (UCSD), while eliminating master’s programs in electrical and computer engineering and comparative literature, and eliminating courses in French, German, Spanish and English literature, added a diversity requirement for graduation to cultivate “a student’s understanding of her or his identity.” So, rather than study computer science and Cervantes, students can study their identities — themselves. Says Mac Donald, “ ‘Diversity,’ it turns out, is simply a code word for narcissism.”

The reality is as long as we talk about a "college degree" as if Women's Studies has anything in common with Math, prices will continue to rise.

If college loans (for which I'm thankful I only took out a 7,000 one) continue to enjoy special status because of the supposed earning benefits, then those loans should only be given to degrees that actually have those benefits.

Where's the beef? Apparently in Russia. Pretty simple concept...dont like paying extra for imports? Grow your own.
Jeez. I wonder if that might apply to oil as well.
