Not a good practice, but still, taking a drug to lower your cholesterol is fairly self-evident. They're useful drugs, and pretty much anyone, paid or not paid, can tell you that having high cholesterol is bad...

I know. No arguement there. Its the pointless reporting that irritates me. Like fishing without a worm.

Between the patient and the 401k it's clear that Price Waterhouse has it hands down......
The reporting??? Don't even get me started.
I had some jerk at my front door just the other day asking if I was interested in a local newspaper subscription - Ya know, a German Shepherd is a wonderful tool - all I had to do is shake my head from side to side - when he saw Apollo in agreement he did a quick 180 and hauled his a$$ off my front porch pronto - end of discussion - no "Foot in the Door" - problem solved - Riff Raff gone......

Unless it's the GOOD cholesterol, right? Or do the drugs reduce THAT too?!? My bet is that they will... odd that there is no information about that out there. Needs more research, but I wonder who's to fund it? And would it get published?Originally Posted by JungleMan
Whenever I read an article written like that Jim, I think to myself, "There's a reporter who's not convinced." Put yourself in the reporter's place: you get a press release from some odd 'Consumer Group' who you do not like. Your editor (who's just back from Lunch with said group) says "Get on this, we need to have this on our website!" After about 2 minutes of research, you can conclude fairly easily that this is a case of ego on parade or something, so you write an article.
In the article, you quote:
"Consumer Groups", "Experts", "Some People", and "James Cleeman, National Cholesterol Education Program Director", the last of which disagrees with the tenor of the un-named Consumer Groups.
Who ya gonna believe?
Tabloid Journalism at it's most flagrant, or one of the most extreme cases of Media Bias by exclusion I've ever run across 'nStuff.
And have you noticed my new "enlightened" attitude Fluff?
Have you noticed how I havent commented on the Martha Stewart[seperated at birth from Hillary] story? I havent touched it with a Towle "King Richard" pattern fork. Have you read anything by me about how her big 5 month sentence will be served at one of her ill-gotten la ti dah homes? I havent said a word....about how everyone else would be dancing on their bellys in some cell with Bubba. But not me. Im open minded when it comes to this taupe colored liver spotted self proclaimed model of "standards". Not once have I suggested
she should have KMart Blue lights shoved in her eyes.

Well Jim, I wasn't going to get all syrupy about it, but in fact I HAD noticed your restraint. A long time reader of these forums would have good reason to expect you to at least COMMENT on the New York Stock Exchange's former Board Member. Just because she lied to Federal investigators about what turned out to be a perfectly legal transaction, you should not take the easy route and make fun at her expense. In fact, I'll bet you've had a really difficult time holding back any of your commentary about the woman who now compares herself to Nelson Mandela, and HIS incarceration on political grounds.Originally Posted by jimzinsocal

The Mandela reference....I read that and had to indeed restrain myself. I didnt comment on how these "bigger than life itself" folks are
always associating themselves with some real hero in an effort to present "the little people" with a more accurate, and self-indulgent portrait of themselves.
I let that go.
I also avoided any comment on her obvious fashon mistake and lack of color coordination as exhibited here.....in a recent photo of the queen having conversation with her large group of friends......

Hey fluff, does everybody drive crazy over there? It seems as soon as they hit Montana they can't resist the urge to drive 90 or faster.Michelle Lee Herd walked into Missoula District Court on Wednesday with a Supreme Court ruling that said her 40-year loss of driving privileges from a negligent homicide conviction was too onerous. She walked out in handcuffs, with a five-year prison term tacked onto her original sentence.
Anyway, this case renewed a little faith in the justice system. This judge actually got meaner when the Supreme Court said he was too mean!

Take a Kid FISHING!
I LIKE your judges... he did exactly what the Supremes told him to do, and did it in a very fair way, IMHO. Let's see how long that one lasts.
And yes, inattentive drivers over here are the norm. Most folks think its lack of skill, but it is really a case where they chose to drive while not paying attention... sure, the occasional Cel Phone or make-up or shaving. But did you know that we are very good at putting the child in the backseat? It's true; but all the positive points in their account go for naught when you see them turn around to play with baby.
While they are 'driving' the car!
Reading newspapers, books... going through a bag looking for... I dunno, a clue maybe? Getting so wrapped up in a conversation with the passenger that they are doing only 45 in the HOV/Diamond lane. I see it all. Makes you want to double down on the ol' insurance, I swear!
So you get a job running a Golf Course near Brisbaine, out on the East Coast of Australia. Your groundskeeper tells you that there are man eating sharks out in one of the water hazards, and presents photographic proof to you. As full of... proper concern as you are, what is your first move?
"We have security staff to monitor the area to prevent fishing" he said.
Here, fishy fishy fishy....

Bill Cosby has been taking hits lately for speaking his mind, saying that black kids are not keeping up their end of the deal. He seems to think that since the leaders of the Civil Rights movement fought and suffered for their abilty to get a valid education, the kids of today owe it to them to actually GET that education.
The kids however, have bought into the line of thinking that getting an education is 'giving in to the MAN', and something which is much too 'White' for them to do. They're keeping it real.
I bring this up, because of the whole idea that getting a decent education and joining/starting a financially viable company is a "White" thang.
" A man hit his girlfiend with a 3-foot alligator and threw beer bottles at her during an arguement in the couple's mobile home."
Now, they don't explicitly mention the fact of their ethnicity... but as racist as it may seem, I'm gonna say they were white 'nStuff.
Go to school, young black Americans. Get that degree, find that corporate job... and hire these folks to sweep your floors. It'll feel GOOD!

^^^^^ Awe c'mon Fluff, don't be so pre-judgemental.
This guys story sounds pretty credible to me:
"Havenner's version of the story differed. He told investigators that Monico bit his hand because she was upset that they had run out of alcohol."
That's much more believeable to me.
Some honky/cracker/redneck piece of "Trailer Trash", living with a 3' live 'Gator in the bath tub of his "Single Wide" and his girlfriend (probably live in type) flips out and bites his hand as a result of them running out of alchohol.
Happens all the time......
