God almighty. This article is even worse. Talk about examining naval lint.

of rusty nails.

..."but JimZ...we must try and understand other cultures...and talk with these folks..."its just their way...."

Me: Right. Ive got alot to talk to these people about.
Ah, the Corzine option. Could be useful in this instance, but I believe it's overboard. Just me.
As for the collective guilt angle: Sometimes I worry about myself. I just don't think that I could have done anything to prevent this act of Evil acting on my own. Now, if a GROUP of folks, especially Professors and Counselling Staff had both the knowledge of the problem and the means by which they could address it... then you could hammer your head against the wall. But most people just don't have that knowledge or those options. And so I would not feel responsible at all, nor would I be second guessing myself.
Maybe I'm not Human. My response would not have been "WHAT DID SOCIETY MISS?!?" but something more along the lines of "What was that sunuvabitch ON?!?" I've thought about this, and I just can't figure out a way to blame the victims...We wouldn't be human if we didn't second-guess ourselves. And there's probably no time when that is more true than after a tragedy unleashed by a fellow human being. ~Adam Geller, AP Writer injecting his own morality onto a news story.
^^About where Im at. And maybe the seatbelt thing was extreme...but people like that make me nuts.
Its fair to take a look and see if something was missed in looking back
but some folks just go on and on with it all. Its like these people live in some alternate universe...where everything can be "managed"
How arrogant is that?
Yes, things did change after Columbine... Schools like VTech became Gun Free Zones.
Oh, did you mean 'Did anything USEFUL get done after Columbine?' Nah.
Gun Free Zones.
I read what Fred Thompson had to say about the signs.
"Who are the signs for exactly?"
^^I see steyn has a piece today on the subject

Prevention? Woulda coulda shoulda.
Sh!t - we've got hundreds of the same type of mind set locked up at Guantanamo right now.
Mr. Adam Geller is very likely one of the bleeding heart moron's that thinks we should set them all free.........
They write for the sake of writing, because it's their job. Slanted articles, wreaking of their personal values and opinions - biased by political convictions.
And all while hiding behind the second amendment.

^^Oh man remember all that? He held the shotgun like it was a stick of shit.
I love the symbolism.
"Lets paint the "peoples house" bright green"
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/4/22/73246/4164
Id like to suggest an alternative color: Empty.
These clowns can go on and on all they like with this symbolic crap.
When they stop with all the globe trotting for no good reason and sell the limo's Ill take them seriously.
The notion is honorable perhaps but way too limited.
Start with reducing travel expenses to a bare necessity and Ill be more receptive.
These sweeping deals out of government mouths make my skin crawl.
Take things step by step.
Work in travel first. Get that down to bare bones.
Then move to the next improvement.
The last thing our elected dopes need is something complicated so they
can all hide.

If Bush had said this? Wed already see two threads on the subject.
"The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature."
