^^About where Im at. And maybe the seatbelt thing was extreme...but people like that make me nuts.

Its fair to take a look and see if something was missed in looking back
but some folks just go on and on with it all. Its like these people live in some alternate universe...where everything can be "managed"
    How arrogant is that?

    Lip service.

Was anything of substance changed after Columbine?

    I don't know. Just asking.

I do know that if someone decided to, they could walk into the elementary school my wife teaches at and mow down dozens of kids and teachers with a gun.

Yes, things did change after Columbine... Schools like VTech became Gun Free Zones.

Oh, did you mean 'Did anything USEFUL get done after Columbine?' Nah.

    Gun Free Zones.

I read what Fred Thompson had to say about the signs.
"Who are the signs for exactly?"

^^I see steyn has a piece today on the subject

What is it with some people/writers that feel the need to beat up on themselves when something like this happens.

Since the writer really has nothing to say? Im going to suggest
some things he can do with his time that would be more productive.
First? Get in your car but dont use the seatbelt.
Next? Lets get the car going about 100MPH and aim for some bridge abutment.
Either that or throw away all your keyboards and typewriters
and promise to never write another thing.
    Prevention? Woulda coulda shoulda.

Sh!t - we've got hundreds of the same type of mind set locked up at Guantanamo right now.

Mr. Adam Geller is very likely one of the bleeding heart moron's that thinks we should set them all free.........

They write for the sake of writing, because it's their job. Slanted articles, wreaking of their personal values and opinions - biased by political convictions.

And all while hiding behind the second amendment.

I just had a vision of Kerry and Cheney out hunting. Voice over by the "Announcer Guy" And only one returned...

    I love the symbolism.

"Lets paint the "peoples house" bright green"

    http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/4/22/73246/4164

Id like to suggest an alternative color: Empty.

These clowns can go on and on all they like with this symbolic crap.
When they stop with all the globe trotting for no good reason and sell the limo's Ill take them seriously.

The notion is honorable perhaps but way too limited.
Start with reducing travel expenses to a bare necessity and Ill be more receptive.

These sweeping deals out of government mouths make my skin crawl.
    Take things step by step.
Work in travel first. Get that down to bare bones.
Then move to the next improvement.
The last thing our elected dopes need is something complicated so they
    can all hide.

If Bush had said this? Wed already see two threads on the subject.

"The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, ‘To minister to the needs of God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.’ On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children’s children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature."

If Bush cited such a passage and took action on it I'd praise him. As it stands, I don't think he really knows much about the "compassion" parts of it. I wonder if he's actually read the New Testament outside of Revelation.
Promote then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.

    Jab at Bush accepted.
But you gotta admit the different treatment.[perceived]
The word God is mentioned in an address by Bush and theyre are
instant phone calls from some folks having a tizzy....to lawyers.
But when its a San Fran liberal...its praiseworthy.

Yeah, I get the treatment thing. I see it as what it is, though: a ploy.
