'Pilgrim' abandons cashless 'peace walk' to India - because the French thought he was an asylum seeker

    By LIZ HULL

But when Mark Boyle set out on a mission to show he could survive on peace and love instead cash, he was a pilgrim who didn't make much progress ... thanks to the tightwad French.

The aim of the firebrand anti-captialist was to walk 9,000 miles from Britain to India totally penniless, relying on the generosity of human beings in pursuit of his dream of a money-free global economy.

"Most of the problems in the world such as greed, fear and insecurity, manifest themselves in money," he declared.

"So I'm going out and instead putting my trust in the universe."

However, just 250 miles later, when he got to Calais and asked the French if they shared his Utopian vision, the answer was a resounding 'Non'.

Instead, they accused him of being a "freeloading backpacker" and refused to help him and his two companions.

Eventually - cold, tired, bedraggled and hungry - they decided to call off the pilgrimage, less than a month into the planned two-and-a-half year trek.

To add insult to injury, the three were forced to use the hard currency they hate so that they could get back to the UK.
    Ha ha you dumb hippy.

^ I think it deserves it's own thread. Maybe public schooling does have a future after all.

    It's called private here.
Promote then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.

^^How can anyone argue about the administrative "bloat" in the deal illustrated.
How can anyone argue that the money needs to be in the classroom[teachers] not some foolish office building
    full of shit heads?

Another from Carey. He makes such good points

It's not all of a sudden... I don't agree with him on everything, but he's in a position where he can speak his mind, and get his message out. He's been at it for a while now.

Like any other source, double check what he says, follow the money, etc. But I respect the man. A lot.

On one hand we have people looking at what is happening and asking questions.
Only to be blown off by the other side....who seemed so entrenched in their position they wont listen.
But things were indeed different a couple of years ago when a busy hurricane season was concluded to be a significant evidence.

The guys at Powerline... first this week they took down 60 Minutes -again- by pointing out that absolutely nobody actually involved in the story believes their star source... and then tonight they start out a post with what has become one of my favorite introductions ever:
Hillary Clinton is, more than anything else, the feminist candidate, circa 1970. So it is fitting that Gloria Steinem, whose career peaked in her youth when she was, very briefly, a Playboy bunny, should be campaigning for her:
Doesn't look like John H. is gonna get any invites to Ms. Steinem's dinner parties anytime soon. Story about Hillary with that intro is here.

    Jesus.

LOS ANGELES The city of Las Vegas has shut down a clinic where up to 40,000 people may have been exposed to hepatitis C and the HIV virus through the reuse of syringes and vials, officials said on Sunday...
