I used to use this on my old 8RDA, it had CPU idle temps 1 lower than the case temps (LOL). My only problem now is with my 5V line "tweaked" on my TrueControl 550, it gets a little too high when the CPU is idle.

By the way "for Radeon users" if you want Side Band Addressing enabled, but it only works with fastwrites on.....it's offset 49, change the hex to 03 and SBA will be enabled without having to turn on fastwrites. Gave me a few hundred extra points in Aquamark3.

It will not work on your KT600 motherboard
I think for the KT600 it,s register D5 bit 1 from 0 to 1 for CPU HALT enabled and register D3 bit 7 from 0 to 1 to enable STPGND (stop grand cycle)

There is also a a tweak you can try to gain some memory bandwith (KT600) by changing a register with WPCREDIT, I have to get back on that because I'm not at home right now

from what I have seen..they did work on win98 by allowing throttling to the cpu and what I also notcied was a 100% cpu load!

I would love to know what tweak that is!
    For VIA chipsets only!!!
register 6A change to FF this might work, gives me a small increase in memory bandwidht.

Programs like CPUCool and Rain do work but for win9X/ME it's a bit different. The HALT state (C1) can only be enabled by software. The OS is software also, winNT, W2K and XP can handle HALT but it has to be enabled by the bios also. So if you change the HALT bit in the bios and you are running Win9x/ME your proc. will not cool down, and that is where these programs come in. The C2 state (STPGND) can be enabled by soft and hardware altough I have never seen it by hardware (but that doesn't mean anything). With the C2 state you can throttle the proc. and force it to cool down.

Does the tweak in this thread work on mobile Athlon XPs? and if so, does it improve battery life? and if so, by how much?
