    Test a UT2k3 server anyone?

I'll have this server up for 2 hours if anyone wants to try to connect and post results. My friend and I have quite a rivalry going on and I only seem to be able to host from my main computer. Yeah, the one with the better graphics card and monitor. Obviously I'd like to host from my other machine (1600+, 8500le, 256MB, XP sp1) since the game looks nicer on my main rig.
Both are running behind a Linksys router, with both port fowarding (specifically to my secondary rig) and triggering set up to try to allow a connection to be made.
Also, when I start the game and look under the DM tab, I can see the server and a ping. My friend can see the server listed but the ping is "N/A". I'd like to try to figure that out, so any help is appreciated.

Edit: Server is now back up. I can run it nonstop this weekend or however long it takes to see some test results
    TIA!

Have you disabled the winXP firewall? You shouldn't need triggering either, just port forwarding. The game port by default is 7777 I think, but you can change this via the ini you are using to run the server.

Yeah, I've disabled XP's firewall (ICF, iirc). And I don't have any other firewall like Zone Alarm or Norton or anything like that running either.
An interesting thing to note is that in the "log window" (you know, the window that opens when you start a dedicated server?) I don't see any evidence of any attempt to connect (like from edudlive). But last night, there was an attempt listed, but it was denied due to the client not having stats enabled.
I've got ports 7777, 7778, 7779 and 27902 opened. I could be mistaken, but doesn't port forwarding forward to only one ip, while triggering opens the port to any comp on the LAN? As far as I understand, having both forwarding and triggering set up won't cause problems. I'm definitely not networking savvy, so my understanding of how forwarding and trigggering work may be way off base.
As far as I can tell, there's no reason for not being able to connect to the server. That's what's so frustrating
btw- Thank you edudlive and j1mb0b for taking the time to help.

That's weird for sure... but it would imply that it's a client problem, not server so it could be good news for you

    I've got ports 7777, 7778, 7779 and 27902 opened.
Strictly, you only need 7777 on the server, and then use a direct IP connection. Unless you want the server listed inthe master browser

I could be mistaken, but doesn't port forwarding forward to only one ip, while triggering opens the port to any comp on the LAN? Yeah, trigggering is great when it works. it means you can forward the same port to different machines (at different times of course). Trouble is getting the trigger right can be tricky to say the least. Also, I have no idea what would happen if you use triggering and forwarding on the same port. I would assume that forwarding may take precedence, but can't say for sure. Since you really only want the lesser machine to serve, I would suggest you try just forwarding. If that works, then play with the triggering by all means.

I've now removed the port triggering settings as per j1mb0b's advice. I also disabled stat collection.

Before that, however, it seems as if there was an attempt to connect. It's strange because it at first looks as if everything is working fine:

    DevNet: NotifyAcceptingConnection
    NetComeGo: Open myLevel 12/19/03 10:28:11 IP# ending in :1147

That's followed by further items being accepted. I can even see this:

    URL=Index.ut2?Name=censored Class=Engine.pawn?Character=Sapphire?Team=0NotifyAcceptingChannel File 1 Server Level DM-Antalus.myLevel: Accpted
    Client requested file: Allowed
    Sending '..System/SkaarjPack_rc.u'

The next thing I see is:
    NetComeGo: Close Tcpipconnection

That's followed by the IP# that ends in :1147 and the date and time.
It looks to me like someone was actually able to connect (I censored their character's name, I don't know why), and then exits the server.

Thumbs up Re: UTk3 server ...

    You still running that server?

    edit: ................

Never mind, I just connected fine.
What are those bots set to? They kicked my butt!
That's no real big feat though.

    Hmmm,
I thought I noticed someone had successfully connected! Do you mind posting the name and type of character you play as? Or a PM?
That could be excellent news for me!
The bots are set to "skilled".
You know, when I start the game on my main rig and go to "Play on line/LAN, in the DM tab I see my server listed with my ISP assigned IP. Under the LAN tab, I see the IP I assigned to the server computer. That, to me, is another clue that my server is working correctly. Otherwise I would expect the ip addresses to be the same.

Thanks again guys for taking the time to help. I realize it takes more effort to try to connect to a game server and post a reply than it takes to just post a message.

Edit: Hey edudlive, would you mind trying again? Maybe removing the port triggering settings fixed the problem, which would be confirmed by you being able to connect now.

Could be the problem is solved!!! If so, thanks to all who assisted me!
Thanks j1mb0b for the suggestion!!! Although I could swear I tried that before
