i think thats good. he paid all that money into the game, and faulty software made him lose it all? and then the company refused to give it back?
sure it's just data, but it was data he had invested time and money into. thats like saying windows operating systems are just data, they should be free right? no. people worked hard creating that data, so they should be reimbersed.
though i think games like those are kinda silly, and i doubt i'd get into them myself very much, i think the guy got what he deserved.
just my 2 cents.

Look at all the RPG related items for sale on ebay. I'd say his case is quite valid.

$1,210 is a lot of money to waste on a computer game. I would rather go out and buy a top of the line computer with that scratch instead of wasting it on one game.
it was over a period of time though, so it's a little different when you think of it like that.Originally posted by clement on 12-22-2003 at 08:15 PM

it's kind of like telling a smoker how much they can save in a year if they stop. or someone who plays the lotto.
still a lot of money on a game though

I like this - as all the stuff I have in UO is as a result of 3+ years serious long term play, plus generosity from friends who have either played long and hard or, in one case, spent over 1000 dollars on ebay for in-game items.
Of course the effort has a value. Otherwise people in service jobs shouldn't get paid, and folk who lose old master paintings should only receive a few tubes of oil paint and some linen from the insurance company, with the reassurance "This paint is better, it is new"
My current system:
Athlon 3200 XP+
Gigabyte K7400 Pro2
Hitachi 80 gig HD
Aopen FX5600 (sob, whimper - my TI4600 broke)
Liteon 56 x DVD rom
Benq CDRW
1024 meg DDR400 memory
NEC Multisync FE1250 22" monitor
Fujitsu ADSL modem
Logitech Cordless Desktop MX combo
Cheap black case and cheap stereo speakers.
Cost me a fortune in upgrades, worth a few 100 dollars now!
