    cool'n'quiet-winnie 3000, av8. cooling advice too!

    hey all

im running a winchester 3000 on an abit av8 motherboard, and i cant for the life of me get cool'n'quiet running,

ive installed the latest amd driver (and it is confirmed under the device manager that the manufacturer is amd and not microsoft)

but i cant get it to work!

    also

a little bit of advice on cooling:

i have the following stock coolers *available*
Stock Winchester 3000 cooler (the all aluminium one)
Stock X2 4800 cooler (looks like its got only 2 heatpipes)
Stock FX 60 cooler (looks like its got 4 heatpipes in it)

    which would be best?

the fx-60 cooler i believe has an 80mm fan mounted on it (making it easier to swap out for another one)

which do you reccomend, and can i expect some mindly decent temps from it?!

im only going to be running the machine stock as it does the job enough for me!

    thank you in advance!

Stock FX 60 cooler (looks like its got 4 heatpipes in it) would be the best choice ! (near or a lil' better then an xp-90) but if you won't oveclock that processor at all any of the available hsf would be good !

for cool n quite to be enable you need to select minimal power management as power scheme in the power option properties window (it can be from the screen saver window)

sometimes the board might also have a bios setting that you would need to turn on.

    Yea, check your bios.

It might be "kinda" hidden so make sure you look at everything.

Also, consider using RMClock instead. Does the same as AMD C&Q, but better.
