I stopped by with my raincheck about three times now since the 26th (passing by anyway), and they always tell me they are not in yet and I should call first. Last time I stopped by was Saturday. SO I call last night (Sunday) before going out and the girl on the line said, "No we sold out of them again." I said, "What do you mean AGAIN?"..... Silence..... "I have a raincheck, why was one not reserved for me?" "Uhhh, let me check sir...." foot tapping..... "Sir we should be getting more in this week and your raincheck is good for 60 days." "Yeah, great." I said as I hung up.

So either there were lots of rainchecks ahead of mine, customers were called and the drives picked-up,

    OR

I think what is really happening is that the few drives they get are stocked at full price, and customers with rainchecks are not called. The ones who check in with them every day MAY get some of the few drives they have.

Looks to me like a strategy to bring in foot traffic without losing much on the loss leaders. They are doing everything they can to limit the number of drives they have to sell at the rebate prices.

I thought I was being a nice guy by not calling them every day on this and I would get one without much hassle, but I think it's time to put them on speed-dial.

Hey, I notice your from the South Subs, me too. I have a raincheck at the OM in Orland Hills. I keep calling and they keep saying that the drives have not come in yet. They keep advising me that "they will call me when they come in". We'll see...

    Hi Dave,

Yup, been out your way many times. We go to the theatres out there fairly often. My raincheck is from the Matteson store. I should have gotten another raincheck from the Lansing store. Would be nice to replace my aging IBM RAIDed drives.

Now the Orland store might actually call customers. I'm not so sure about the Matteson store though.

I had a rain check for the 80g hd an called saturday morning an they said mine would be in this coming week an checked my rain check. Said she would move me to top of list. Saturday evening I get a call from them saying someone did not want theres an I could pick it up. Sunday morning went over an picked it up. Told me rebates would be good for 60 days. Sent rebates in today. So maybe you will still get yours.

I used to work at circuit city. Lets say you go to store 1. They are sold out of the drive. You go to store 2 and want them to pricematch.... Well, no go. Cuz they don't price match items that are sold out. Why should store 2 match the price if store 1 couldn't even sell you any (out of stock).
exactly, hell they should raise the price at that point, knowing that the competition is gone...

Picked up my drive this afternoon. They told me the rebates will be honored. I asked what if they aren't and the clerk said to come back to the store with the rebate rejection and copies of everything and they would give credit. We'll see what happens.

Hope you got that one in writing....I noticed that the hard drives have $60 worth of sales again this upcoming week, so I plan to try to get the hard drive for $20 ou t of the store, or else using this week's rebates and the old $80 price to still get them for $20. We'll see...

Meh, my Officemax seems good enough - I went in and asked if they had any 80 gig hdds (didn't even know they were on sale at the time, what can I say I'm a little slow) and the guy said that they had a special deal going on but they were all out. Then he offered me a raincheck without me even asking for it. I think it has to do with the store you go to and who you deal with, some people are just willing to help you out even if they have to bend the rules a bit.

Stop being immature. Big letters in size 4 and bold doesnt make you cool. The point being is that being there early gets you what you want, and if we dont hae it theres usually a substitute, unles the ad says "hurry while supplies last" which usually means we're weeding out a discontinued item.

3 weeks ago we have a ritek or some sh!t 100pack of 2.4x DVD's, and the substitute was 2 50 packs of memorex 4x DVD's .... cant complain there, we do what we can. its not our fault the corporate office did not take into account that our stock was low on the day of an ad.

    now stop crying.
