Also im now being halted for about 15 seconds (or so it seems) at the boot screen that has my IRQ assignments with a message saying "verifying DMI pool data" is something wrong, i never got that message before now? My boot sequence is scsi, cdrom, floppy.
The "Ctrl+F4" screen you cannot get rid of. The BIOS TonyInSeattle suggests (4.2.47) however, is a litte faster I think (or so it seems) at detecting the drive(s) (it's even faster with a RAID array attatched).

As far as the "Verifying DMI pool data..." message goes, I'm not sure about Asus boards but I've got that message with every board I've owned (Abit and Epox). However, it shouldn't be there for very long at all (as a matter of fact, just now when I doubled-checked that I was getting it, I missed it because it went by so fast and had to reboot again and pay better attention).

Why it would stay longer just because of some drive changes and enabling the SATA controller I don't know.

Something to check though: On my Abit NF7-S there is a setting in the boot sequence called "SATA Controller" (or something like that) along with the SCSI controller. Does the Asus have this? This board is the first time I've seen this (usually its as you have it - an integrated add-in controller would be set to SCSI). If there is an SATA setting try setting it to that. If it's not there, then I don't know. You might want to try some different BIOS versions (board BIOS, not SATA BIOS) if the problem remains after trying the 4.2.47 SATA BIOS (which btw, works quite well).

Thanks for the clarification...I was referring to the RAID set message if there is no RAID set found. Sorry for any confusion.

No..unfortunately there is no boot option specifically for the SATA controller on this board. Its treated as a SCSI controller.

DMI shouldn't take long so that seems a bit odd but function everything and check your device manager for any possible conflicts.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you guys. Ok i whipped out the asus live update and pointed it to your link of the 1007uber bios download (SWEATIN BIG TIME) thnx god the flash went just fine. Rebooted the comp and it seems the same screens remain during boot its just there comming and going a bit faster, so that good i guess. Hey ive been using the 1005 bios since ive owned this board, hows these uber1007's? I mean have i improved overall or just my SATA controller? I had always had a problem overclocking this XP3000 (400fsb) but i figured that it was because it was a dummed down (or didnt make the cut) as an XP3200, wonder if i will be able to get much more out of it then a 10mhz fsb increase.

Uber just unlocks some features...otherwise it will perform the same. The SATA BIOS should perform the same only boot a bit quicker. If the SATA RAID BIOS screen boots quicker, then thats good although with a RAID set it does go pretty quick otherwise.

So how ya liking it so far?

ROFL... let me just say that i havent flashed a bios in almost 2 years. Having said that i will tell you that after flashing the bios to uber1007 i totally forgot to reset my bios settings, i was running a FSB of 100mhz lol jesus.... Needless to say i had to make a few changes to certian areas of my bios to get it as optimal as possible. I guess the MOST POSITIVE thing i can say here (as of yet) is that i DID remember to turn off my overclock BEFORE i flashed the bios.

Anyhow after fixing things up in the bios i saved and rebooted............................................

I THINK I JUST EXPERIENCED WHAT LIGHT-SPEED IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap....this thing really moves, even the pesky raid and DMI screens are only there momentarily, i cant for the life of me imagine what a couple of raided raptors would be like. Im not sure if its the uber1007's or just the newer sata bios within, but man something just kicked my computer in the a$$, and im enjoying it.
