    i dont think a memory cap exists for the via motherboard. It is just a divider.

    ddr400 = 1:1
    ddr333 = 5:6
    ddr266 = 2:3

    so if you plan to OC and you only have ddr400 you need to set it on ddr333

    I think the final settings I will settle on will be

    240 fsb
    ddr333 setting in bios, giving 400mhz ram
    10x240= 2.4Ghz

    Not bad for an A64 3000+. I am satisfied.

    Another thing to note is that you might need to manually enter in the memory timings if you overclock the fsb.

    If I enter in ddr333 it gets the timings of ddr333 by spd, but since it doesnt actually run at ddr333 it locks up.

    OK, so when I get home tomorrow from work, side from the HD swapping you want me to do which I probably can't, what do I need to do? Am I just changing the memory settings? Or do I need to change more?

    I also did a couple tests with different dividers and came to the conclusion that they do not hinder performance much. Timings and LDT speed were kept the same for these tests. I can say that running LDT 3x does appear to offer a small 3-4% performance gain.

    1) 2250mhz (225x10) with 1:1 memory divider with LDT 2.5x
    HTT:225 MEM:225

    PCMARK02: CPU - 7314, MEM - 9177, HDD - 1966
    3DMARK01: 20437
    SANDRA: CPU - 9397, MFLOP - 4622, Memory bandwidth - 3470

    2)2248mhz (250x9) with 5:6 memory divider with LDT 2.5x
    HTT:250 MEM:204

    PCMARK02: CPU - 7318, MEM - 8718, HDD - 1944
    3DMARK01: 20357
    SANDRA: CPU - 9393, MFLOP - 4617, MEM - 3129 (only running 204, thus lower score)

    3)2350mhz (261x9) with 5:6 memory divider and LDT 2.5x
    HTT:261 MEM: 213.5

    PCMARK02: CPU - 7658, MEM - 9063, HDD - 1974
    3DMARK01: 20693
    SANDRA: CPU - 9850, MFLOP - 4823, MEM - 3268

    4)2450mhz (272x9) with 5:6 memory divider and LDT 2.5x
    HTT:272 MEM:222

    PCMARK02: CPU - 7993, MEM - 9431, HDD - 1993
    3DMARk02: 21054
    SANDRA: CPU - 10172, MFLOP - 5071, MEM - 3410

    I'll ty the 3:2 divider later. I threw in the 2350mhz and 2450mhz just for comparison.

    nice post notice how his speeds at 1:1 were better. now if we had a pci lock without using memory dividers we would be in best case scenario up to the point that we could not run HT at the highest setting. (3% is 3%).

    I was curios, so I lowered the LDT speed to 2x to actually get some numbers on how it compared to 2.5x. Almost no change.

    1)2350mhz (261x9) with 5:6 memory divider and LDT 2.5x
    HTT:261 MEM: 213.5

    2)2350mhz (261x9) with 5:6 memory divider and LDT 2.0x
    HTT:261 MEM:213.5

    PCMARK02: CPU - 7663, MEM - 9064, HDD - 2013

    I cannot run LDT @ 3x at that high a HTT speed, but I lowered it down to 230 HTT @ 1:1 memory and did a run with 3x and again with 2x and believe it or not, 2x actually had slightly higher scores. I figure that falls within the 1-2% margin or error factor.

    Just ran 3DMark2001SE and got this score with the following settings.

    22699

    I dropped the memory speed as you all said to 166. Also the HTD or whatever it was from 3 to X2.5 and upped my bus speed to 247. And whammo, sweetspot! Sandra Bandwidth scores dropped about 300 point but other bench scores went up so far.

    I ordered a Chaintech NF3 board and some more ram modules to play around with again. Interesting looks as though i was relying to heavily on my 3dmark results.

    BTW anyone running an MSI K8t theres a new bios 1.20 thats actually older than the beta one ive been running but seems a tad more stable with corsair ram modules.
