    Neverwinter expansion or not

I just got around to picking this game up. I got the gold one with the Shadows of Undrentide expansion pack included. Should I install neverwinter nights first and play it and then play the expansion or install both at the same time for the update benefits.

play NWN, then SoU, then Hordes of the Underdark (my gf is currently cursing that one to death hahahaha).

HoU is great, start at level 15, go up to level 40, massive battles etc.

anyhoo...to make it last the longest...play the original first. If you dont like it (some say singleplayer sucked but we both liked it a lot), move on to SoU and try that.

there's a zillion modules and add-ons for this game too if the official expansions get boring

Intall them all. I had started NWN 6 months back and then got sidetracked. Recently I've installed all 3 and ran thru character generation again and there are additional feats that weren't available to me the first time.... or at least it feels/looks like it. Besides the SOU expansion will patch the NWN game to correct it's bugs.

The gold edition has no option to install only the original NWN. It installs both unpatched!

After installing, register at nwn.bioware.com and enter your codes so you'll always have them. Then download the gold patch and run it.

After finishing the first module, you'll want to play the remaining SoU and Hordes

I installed the gold version and just like AireWolve said it installed both at once. I used the auto update and it down loaded the v1.61 patch. I do have the choice of playing the original nwn or the sou expansion so I guess I'll play the original first then move on from there. Thanks

I think the original is better than SOU. You have to start over with a low level in SOU and work back up. ISOU was good but original was better and longer. HOU however lets you import a character from either previous game and IMO was the better of the two expansions.

I agree about HoU. The fact that a player can "legally" advance forty levels is great. And the epic spells are sweet to see.
