    Cheats......please, use your skills/brains.

******* Partial Spoiler... do not read if you have not finished yet!!!*******

I admit I used cheats to finish the game. Lets face it, without the option to save the game at desired points playing some levels from scratch 10+ times just takes all joy factor out for me. Especially in the later chapters where the developers went away from a smart strategy using AI to Serious Sam types of play without the means to defend yourself only for the sake of extending the total time it takes to finish the game.

A perfect example being the Helo chapter aforementioned. This was my only complaint about the whole game experience. The AI was intelligent through the entire game. Minus the last few chapters at which point they just tossed in a million rocket shooting moron monsters... really dissapointing ending.

    Smile FarCry Console versions coming

    Quote:

Big news today -- Ubisoft has just announced Far Cry Instincts for Next-Gen Consoles. The press release is below, and two new screenshots have been posted.

Far Cry™, Highly Successful PC Franchise, to Be Re-imagined on Select Next-Generation Platforms as Far Cry™ Instincts

San Francisco – April 7, 2004 – Ubisoft, one of the world's largest videogame publishers, announced its award-winning Montreal Studio is currently producing Far Cry Instincts, console versions based on the recently released, tactical tropical PC shooter. The console versions will be an entirely new game built from the ground up utilizing the most advanced technology Far Cry fans have come to expect. The game will be unveiled as one of Ubisoft's premiere titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 12 through 14, 2004.

"With the critical success Far Cry PC generated, we are confident that Far Cry Instincts will be one of Ubisoft's most impressive titles this year," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft. "The highly skilled development team, comprised mainly of the talent behind the original Splinter Cell, plans to further cement Far Cry Instincts position as one of Ubisoft's marquee brands."

Just as Far Cry redefined the FPS genre on the PC, Far Cry Instincts will introduce wide open environments and unique, immersive gameplay elements that are destined to become the definition of survival action. In addition to the PC version's signature locations, non-scripted A.I., and unprecedented view-distance, Far Cry Instincts will feature all-new gameplay scenarios that will challenge players to utilize an even broader range of strategies and survival tactics to uncover the many secrets within the beautiful-but-deadly islands.

I just don't see the great AI that everyone referrs to. Ya'll do mean Artificial Intelligence right? Between the 'claw giants' that look at you (and do not attack), the 'jump-flip' guys that attack only until they enter the jump-flip infinite loop, enemies walking forward and moving backwards, guys getting hung up behind trees and rocks, etc. - I just don't see the great AI. Don't get me wrong, I love the game. But AI is absolutely not a strong feature.

BTW: I am stuck in the volcano where you cross the valley full of bad guys. Can anyone help.

it can be difficult to finish the game when youre on a difficulty setting that isnt giving me anough ammo and the enemy is so numerous that the odds are stacked against you from ever getting past a certain point, as a result, ive had to use some assistance from cheats to get ammo, not only that but the enemies take too much health when youre getting shot and like scooter said, theres a lot of rocket guys at the end of the game and they are quite difficult to kill because they suck up a lot of ammo, not enough to kill them in certain points

    Image quality ps1.1 vs 2.0

Okay now that most of us have settled for a performance setup in our systems for FarCry lets take a look at IMAGE quality as presented by HardOCPs new review of a Nvidia 5900 variant card.
Seems that you dont use PS 2.0 unless you set the lighting quality to VERY HIGH. Even then you better be patched to version 1.1 of FarCry.

Take a look at this page of the review and the different setup shots taken by them....

It seems the 9600xt renders a better picture.....interesting.

Re: The Official Farcry Thread, Everybody Post In Here! (i Mean It)

Since this is the official FC thread, here's my q.:

In the research level after you enter the caves and take the lift up to where the two trigens disappear into the ventilation shaft, what do you do next? Walk to the 'Exit' sign above the door? See, when I try this my weapon disappears and that's about it (changing weapons brings it back again); the next level simply will not load. Is this a glitch in the game or am I missing something (key card)?

    P.s. game version: 1.31

    Cheers

You should just be able to walk out the door. No key card needed for that door... Is 1.31 also build 1337 or only 1378? If you're on 1337, try updating to 1378.

Never saw this thread before, but wow I am hooked on FarCry. Such a revolutionary game... You guys obviously know why

Looking forward to ANY games made on the CryEngine that are even remotely similar. Guess I'll have to join the Far que and wait...

    Yeah......*sighs, contemplating a reinstall*

I'll look into this further b4 I reinstall the game for sure. I thought 1.30 adressed the level loading issues though.

Welcome aboard! For me the game is as much fun now as the day I bought it

The most promising candidates so far are the total conversion mods. Some of the ideas are better than most of what we see on the shelves (go to www.farcrythegame.com). Only, they've been in development for quite some time now & no one really knows when they will make it to our computers. They need more ppl with a passion for gaming & programming to join up & help out

Maybe run the 1378 patch again... A reinstall would be in line with your siggy Hope you have the DVD version.

Been a FC monkey for a long time I know exactly what you mean. I've installed then uninstalled an array of games lately. Compared to FarCry, they're weak. Very weak. Got a couple of the "candidates" but it's been a while since I downloaded any. Might be time to go back. Thanks for that
