    NV40 6800 Reviews

I recall reading that the launch date for the NV40 is scheduled for either today or tomorrow, is this correct? I want to see the reviews on these cards but dont have a clue when the NDA's expire. Anyone out there know when we could be expecting reviews to pop-up????

The NDA expires wednesday. You should start seeing information tonight (tuesday) at midnight.

The card looks pretty darn good so far. If you guys notice in those benchmarks, a lot of the time the NV40 will be using 4xAA and the 9800xt will be using 2xAA or 0xAA and still have higher numbers.

I'll wait to make a full judgement on it though. I want to see a side by side comparison using THE SAME SETTINGS>

Slider settings don't mean same visuals on the screen, what [H] has done for the last while was match IQ up as close as possible. Nothing different here. So far the card is unimpressive...need to some more details on its shader implementation.

Looks impressive. Not as good as it should be, but WAY better than the 5950U. Its definitly not what a lot of us were expecting. I am betting some people with oc'ed 9800XTs could beat the 6800U. Some said a 20% improvement.... Well, I'm going to wait until the x800 Pro and x800XT arrive, then I'll start judging. ATi made a bold step releasing an 12 pipeline chip (x800Pro). Maybe they were thinking it will beat anything nVidia puts out.

Looks to me like nVidia are still gaining speed at the cost of quality...compare the floor tiles in the following two shots:-

    http://mbnet.fi/elixir/NV40/10817474...eutS_5_6_l.jpg

and compare the area just below the crosshairs in the following two:-

    http://mbnet.fi/elixir/NV40/10817474...eutS_5_9_l.jpg

I don't know about anyone else but as long as the framerate is above 30fps I'm only interested in the quality of the rendering...and nVidia just dosn't have it.

Hmm - those memory frequency figures are a marketing guys dream - but what's the latency for GDDR3?
