Fake coffee eh? Gotta go for the high octane. My little machine can make espresso too, but at my age it will probably give me a heart attack. (just like the song "Jump start my heart" har har)

I usually don't buy Starbucks because it's expensive, but you do get a good cup of coffee.

At home I have a little 4-cup Procter-Silex perculator with a reusable filter. It's not a bad little machine. I usually use Foldger's Original Blend coffee... Never tried 8 O'Clock. But since I'm <s>butting out</s> cutting out coffee, I don't think I'll ever try it.

Hey JimZ... glad to see you around. How is everything? 3 day work week, eh? That'd be nice... just when you're getting bored of work, it's another weekend!

Wish I could play on our new server I'm so tempted to just go out & buy a new mobo already, but I must proper research first & check I'm not just getting too impatient.

Hey Jimz - good to see you in here

Well, I just got back from a morning at one fo the refineries up in Carson. Not much fun, but it was at least a different set of 4 walls

are you buying a new setup? I am seriously thinking of replacing my kt333 soyo board with a kt400 board just to take advantage of the Revision B thourobred procs when they come out. I think that by the time the 2600 and 2700 show up the 2400 will cost around 150! I am seeing benchys of people running there 2400s at 2.4 ghz simply by pushing the multpliers down and upping the FSB to 200! No unlocking needed!

My northbridge fan was making all kind of noise and now I am hearing a whine in another fan coming from my heatsink I think! UUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG....

Just makes me mad when hardware wears out! Another reason to look into the kt400 boards, the 1/5 divider that will keep your hardware running at spec.

Then again, the Nforce 2 is coming as well as the "rumored" kt400a which will probably have the AGP 3.1 or 3.2 (whatever the update is) spec that fixes the problems with 8x 3.0 AGP specs.

One good thing about upgrading now is that there is some KILLER deals on the lower end kt400 boards. You can pick up an Epox and an MSI for less than $100 retail at newegg and run you existing DDR2700 making it run just as fast.

I think if your upgrading your 266a or 133 chipset kt400 is the way to go, but wait until the kt400a is announced and pick up the kt400 for about 30% less than it is now!

Thanks CRAG for the advice. I'm stuck right now between my impatience for getting my rig back up (I hate not having a decent rig for a bit of on-line play) and waiting for the new chipsets to come out. I'd really like to make sure that I have some future with this mobo, which means I want AGP8x that works properly. I also don't really want to pay a bundle extra for the features of the nForce that I don't really need. That kinda forces me to go KT400a. BUT WHEN'S IT COMING OUT? I can't wait forever.

The only silver lining right now is that next week I'm away on business all week so I won't have time to miss my rig. Just got to get through this weekend...... I'm hoping the KT400As will be announced/available early november with any luck (then I get a 60 day pricematch which will get me into Jan when prices should start to drop).

As for the no unlocking required, I think that's only the Epox boards isn't it?

    Mornin's everyone.

Hey Jim. I was wondering where you disappeared to yesterday.

Well I did some babysat my nephew yesterday. The last thing my sister-in-law said before she headed out the door was:

"Oh yeah... Ethan's going to complain for a bit when I leave. But he'll get over it"

    *click*

    "WWWWAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!"

He cried for about 20-30 minutes straight while I tried to distract him with everything (TV, the bottle, diaper change)... but in the end it was WinAmp's MIB II plugin (dancing coffee alien) and a picture frame (with a removable plastic protector) that distracted him until his mom came back.

When she came back, he didn't even care. He kept playing around with the stupid picture frame. LOL

The diaper change was interesting... he kept wriggling around and squirming. I managed to get the diaper on, but it was all droopy. LOL

    Ah! Adventures in babysitting!

Nope, I know that the Soyo Board kt400 does it as well, in fact the word is that ALL kt400 boards make use of the thourougbred "B" multipliers WITHOUT unlocking. I know that the Soyo does it cause I have seen it. Stock rev. B 2200 makes use of all the multipliers!

You gotta love that. I seriously think that the kt400 board is the one I am gonna go with in a few weeks. Just waiting till the kt400a benchmarks/prices/availabilty is announced, but 2 to 5% difference is not going to warrant an extra $100.00 for me right now! ESPECIALLY with the Holiday season around the corner and all those presents for HONEY I got to buy! The only way I would consider that extra money is if the board allowed for a 25 to 30% increase. I think the best we will see is around 5% though. At least thats been VIAs pattern to date. For sure you'll see better DDR400 support, but I don't think it will be ALL that.

I would just slap a $150 2400 and a $100 kt400 board with my existing DDR3000 XMS chip and new SLK800 and AWAY I GO!

No doubt an interesting few weeks ahead!

Didn't realise that CRAG. As for performance increase, you're probably right about the 400As vs 400s (althought the jump from 266 to 266A was certainly significant). However, my bigger concern right now is the lack of 1/6 divider on the 400s and the AGP8x problems. I'm hoping these will be ironed out with the new chipset. Since I won't be replacing this mobo until I go 64-bit (unless I blow it up again ), I need it to work right. Sometime next year I'm hoping to pop in a new CPU (barton), RAM (PC3200) and GPU (whatever's best at the time ).

Mr DROOPY DIAPER INSTALLER. Yeah, I was away at one of the refineries up in LA yesterday facilitating a meeting for some modifications they're implementing on one of their boilers. Kinda fun, but it meant getting up at 5.00!!!! Oh well, good practice for next year no doubt. So, any hints on how NOT to install (?) a diaper. Is install really the word to use for diapers? LOL
