GAME ON: AMD SPONSORS TOP-RATED COUNTER-STRIKE TEAM

SUNNYVALE, CALIF.-MAY 6, 2004
-AMD (AMD: NYSE) announced today that it has become the lead sponsor of Team NoA, a globally-ranked,
North American-based Counter-Strike squad. Counter-Strike is one of the most popular PC gaming titles among professional gamers. As part of the sponsorship, Team NoA will use AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor-based gaming systems during its 2004 tournaments.

"Like AMD, Team NoA is passionate about gaming and the competitive spirit and global community that it creates," said Tracey Brown, marketing director of AMD's Gaming Segment. "We designed the AMD Athlon 64 processor family with gamers like Team NoA members in mind. AMD64 processors deliver mind-blowing 32-bit performance on today's most popular software titles, and give the world's most demanding PC users the opportunity to play 64-bit games as they become available."

"We're competing with the best players in the world, so it's important to have a thrashing PC processor in our corner," said Gary "Siege" Sanchez, general manager, Team NoA. "In a game like Counter-Strike, where every second counts, we expect the AMD Athlon 64 processor to give us the edge we need to beat the competition."

Based on AMD64 technology, the AMD Athlon 64 processor is designed to offer outstanding 32-bit performance today with the capability to move into the 64-bit future. Like all AMD64 processors, the AMD Athlon 64 processor also has the added security benefit of Enhanced Virus Protection technology. This technology, in combination with the upcoming Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP Service Pack 2, can prevent certain types of malicious viruses.
