Getting screwed by a forum member, what should I do?

A certain member of these forums with 800+ posts said in a post that he was looking for a good 1800+, so I PM'd him and let him know that mine was for sale. He returned it saying he'd give me $65 shipped, but that he wanted to test its OCability first then pay me. Trusting in the good of humanity, I agreed and promptly sent it to him, USPS insured for $50 and with delivery confirmation. Knowing how things go, I was not rushing him since he was supposedly testing the chip out in his girlfriend's machine and I can see how that might take some time.

A week after I got a delivery confirmation, he PM'd me asking if I had changed my mind since he still hadn't received the chip. I said, of course, no and that it was delivered to his house a week ago. He said he'd check with his mail lady, and that's the last I heard... which was almost a month ago. I checked and he hasn't made a post here since April 15, so it seems he's jumped ship. I still haven't confronted him about it, hoping he'd do right, but I'm starting to doubt that will happen.

I probably should've had him pay up front and offered to refund if he didn't like it, but I didn't, so now I have no easy recourse. I find it hard to believe that somebody with 800 posts here would just abandon the site over a $50 chip, so maybe he's registered a new name? I wonder if an admin could do an IP check for me?

What would you do in this situation?

Why can't I edit the post? Weird.

Anyway, it's only been 2 weeks since his last PM, not a month... maybe I'm being impatient? I just emailed him, we'll see what happens... I did see a flyer about mail fraud at the post office so maybe I'll open a case

Exclamation Re: Getting screwed by a forum member, what should I do?

Sorry, been busy finishing up school and moving

This was not a thread type deal from the trading forums, just PM's between us. I will PM you in a bit with the most pertinent messages. My email to him bounced due to his mail box being disabled (it's a RoadRunner Cable ISP, not hotmail etc) so I don't know if he's lost his internet access or what.
