Bleh, I just lost a fancy first post introducing myself to the community. I'll skip it this time, and get to the point.

I'm a computer veteran, but a relative newbie to building systems. I've built 5, all AMD. I overhear friends and relatives talking, saying they're thinking about buying this 1799.00 Packard Bell computer, and I cringe. I instead offer to build one for them. However, I've been out of the loop for awhile, and now I have to build 3 at once.

This is what I plan on buying based on recent research. All 3 systems will be the same, and will be for computer newbies.

    Duron 900
    IWill KK266
128 MB RAM (I'm ignorant of RAM brand quality...suggestions?)
SB Live (although reconsidering because of compatibility issues I'm reading about)
    3D Prophet II Video
52x CD ROM (probably Creative Labs...I'm also ignorant of CD ROM brand quality)
20 GB 5400 Western Digital HD
    Low level US Robotics Modem
    Generic USB Keyboard/Mouse

Is any 300W case acceptable, or are there some troublemakers I should avoid?

Anyhow, this system comes to around 700.00, minus a monitor, but I don't think that's half bad. I am, however, seeking suggestions from those more knowledgable than myself. I look forward to expanding my knowledge here on the forums! Thanks!

    Questions

Is this the wrong forum to post questions like this? Or have I just not waited long enough? Just curious...I'm new here and you have about 700 forums

Hey...it looks just fine to me !

Now...you have a question about RAM.....well....not only is it our sponsor......but they make awesome products.......in other words......you can't go wrong with Crucial RAM.......it's very high quality RAM....perhaps the best and cheap as dirt at the moment. ======>

Hhhmm.....about the cases....have a look at this site....i haven't bought anything from them myself......but i do like the large range available :

    http://www.colorcases.com/

NOTE:They specify if the case is Athlon (300 Watt)approved.....
