    a7n8x - 2400+ with only 100mhz fsb

i've had my system for a year, it was running smoothly for around 10 months until something happened after i came back from break...not using my comp for around...2 weeks

right now its running 1800+ (when i bought it it said 1800, then i kicked up the fsb to 166mhz * 15 (from 100*15) ~1.5ghz ) , and everything is good. now its stuck at 1800, no matter what combination of fsb/multiplier i use i cant get it back to 2400. also, with a fsb of 166 in my bios, i used cpu-z to check, and it shows that i have a fsb of 100. my fsb jumper is set correctly...bios has been updated.

When I still had my rev. 1.04, I had that issue alot. I think I cleared the BIOS to fix that FSB stuck problem. Also, make sure your FSB jumper is set to the 133/166 (266/333). Also, make sure you have good OCable memory. In many cases, it's the memory's fault, too.

I remember being so frustrated with the same issue you are having. Since moving to rev. 2.00 and XP2100, I never had that problem ever again.

    Welcome arsoisaen

The 100 Mhz safety bus setting kicks in by design when there are errors at post, too many errors to pass the test and boot. You were running at 2490Mhz? That might do it.

What happens when you change to a setting that is a little more reasonable, say 12.5 * 166? No post? 1250Mhz?

OK, how about setting Memory Frequency to 100%, and setting Cpu External Frequency to 150?

Also try saving twice at the exit screen, Save Settings->Yes, Save Settings and Exit->Yes again.

Might have developed a short somewhere, see the sticky post at A7N8X->Common Questions->"Bios Flaky, Can't Save Changes".

    Re: a7n8x - 2400+ with only 100mhz fsb

I am a little confused about your trying to get it back to 2400+.....do you mean getting it to show 2400+ in bios /windows or running cpu at higher than 2400 ?
What if you run it at its intended fsb and multiplier (no overclocking) ? 133 x 15 = 2000 or thereabouts.....which should come up as xp2400+ in bios/windows.

tryign to run at 2ghz, but the 133 is only registering at 100, gonna try the 150 fsb/saving twice thing soon

sorry i was out for the week...

tried out the 150mhz/100% combo, worked fine as in 2400+ popped out, but then my windows stopped working, and then restart stopped working too. kept saying something about cpu not correct speed/bio wasn't saved correctly or something, coudln't fix it really so i just have it on halt on no errors and back to 1800+ status
