Resolved [resolved] Size of the actual Reply (not the Quick Reply) box

I was wondering if there were a way to make the Message Reply box bigger? Recently, when I was typing a response to a thread and I had to include links (looooooong -- thanks a lot newegg >_< ), I was having problems getting the formatting to look right due to the fact that my lines of text were line-breaking so often due to the small size of the Reply box.

Also, there's a lot of empty space on both sides ot the Reply box area that could be put to good use in this way (by enlarging the Reply box a bit).

    Thanks.

which style do you use? do the urls contain more than 100 characters?

since they are newegg links...i suspect some of them may be 100 chars or longer. if this is the case, they will wrap after 100 characters and increasing the size of the text area will not do anything to correct that. also...if any of the links have an asterisk in them...the link wont get parsed (vb software limitation).

can you provide a link showing me an example of how these links are being shown in a thread?

Re: [awaiting feedback] Size of the actual Reply (not the Quick Reply) box

Well ... the thread in question that I was working on at the time was this one: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=326616
However, I'd opted to not actually show the links, but descriptive text instead.

I guess the real question is would it be possible to make the Reply box 100 characters wide (so no side-scrolling would be necessary)?

BTW, I'm using the Dark, Flat, right style atm.

Actually, better question, what browser are you using?

I know this was a bug in vB2, but Mozilla Firefox is detected as Mozilla 5.0, the same as Netscape. So in vB2 it would parse it and set it to a really skinny width. I don't believe it effects vB3. (Looks good on my screen.)

it looks like that in opera, netscape and firefox...

even at default size...if the browser window isnt large enough...thats what happens...ill have to look into this a bit later this evening.

ok...after returning things to default...then rethinking things and looking at settings...i changed 2 settings. once i changed those...i widened the message area back to where i had it when alexia posted the pic of it looking all wierd. then i retested in all the above browsers and everything seems to display correctly.

can you confirm? and is this extra width what you are looking for andrew?

    Thanks Wise One

This is a LOT better (and was what I was hoping for). All that remains, IMHO, is some centering work to be done for the page, but I'd like to get some additional opinions from others.

    Thanks again Wise One.

interestingly enough...in my testings...i have found that it being centered was what was causing the issues that alexia posted when viewing that page with mozilla...once i moved it to the left and resized it to what it is now...the mozilla issue went away wheni tested it. but as soon as i put it back in the middle...at this size...it started to get all funcky...its kind of a trade off at this point.
