Yeah, it took the entire afternoon to get it up and running but now it's running Prime95 for the past 2 hours using:
XP2100+ 166x11.
L12 wiremod.
Buffalo 512 CH-5 @ sync.
All normal timings.
Tomorrow I will try to break that 200mhz fsb barrier.

That would be one of the stickered KA266 boards I believe, what BIOS are you running in it BU? I understand that the XPR1220 has worked for some folks on this earlier version.

No, I pulled the green ver2.1 sticker off and the PCB silkscreen says 2.1 also. Sorry, I musta been thinking about my 8RDA board when I said 1.1. It has the 1220 bios in it but today it's a sick cookie.....looking at a week long chore to get it to run right.... keeps resetting after I got all the drivers back on. Caps look ok but the SB is getting mighty hot. Digging around in my junk box for a copper passive hs. Have an AMD retail HS on the XP1800 now and have been watching temps/voltages in health status but the durned thing keeps locking up.

Changed a few things, swapped the CH-5 for OCZ 128meg PC2700 cas2, dropped the vcore to 1.45 (bios reports it's overvolting .11v) theres no 1.5v to select.....still locking up in bios.
I'll give it a couple more days and then it becomes spare parts.

Quick question. Will a Duron 850 run in a L12 wire-modded. Tried it but no post.
"Use the NForce3 Luke"
The wire mod on Thunderbird and durons I'm not sure about, but the old pencil trick will work with that CPU!

Mr SPIIDI,
Did you ever think of putting a cheap 470 ohm resistor in series with the pot? That alone would have prevented the incendiary effect. Well, this 5 dollar XP333R is a real sick puppy, I cant get it to stay up and running long enough to play with bios setup features. Funny, it seemed so promising the first couple of hours. No luck at all, I'm sure theres a few hundred boards like this sleeping in closets, fallen out of the way of NF2 upgrades.
madeirose,
I took the L12 wire mod off and tried a Duron, no good. I see this board was worked on before because the NB HS was glued on, no push pins provided and the +10% Vcore jumper was set (thats why it seemed to over volt).
Also theres a scratched circuit trace next to the cpu socket on the underside that was fixed with conductive paint and numerous worry marks from the remounting of the cpu heatsink. Prolly a dead end for me.

Well for $5 and a little effort, it was worth a try. Too bad the previous owner mistreated her so....

Yeah, it appears someone was using a large pair of pliers to tighten standoff nuts on a big heatsink.
I tore down the breadboard setup, put the board back in the box.... sad, sad.

hmmm, my XP333-R is in the closetbut she won't be there for long
. Well as soon a I get two Adata pc4000 512mb modules at Newegg and my BFG 6800GT from BB then some funds will go into resurrecting my second Iwilly. Sorry to hear about your board there Spiidi, may she rest in peace and the next super board come along for you.

A pity...Butt,.... that would have been real NICE and for $5 !!!
Well not much action these days except the waiting for an Infinity Ultra which i ordered in Tokyo. The trouble is they are shipping it via chinese junk express and should arrive in Manila in 2 weeks!![]()
Meanwhile I tried underclocking my xp333r to Vcore 1.45 volts and VIOLA ! .... stable at fsb 205 x10 (2050) and at 1.575 volts it is fsb 207 x 10. Temps range between 36-40 degrees. By stable I mean the usual Office applications, 3 loops of 3dmark2001se, 15 minutes of BurnIn test, and no errors with super_pi (2M).
Sometimes i am beginning to suspect that the Barton 2500+ i bought a year ago is in fact a mobile Barton. I can run my rig stable at Vcore 1.3 Volts, fsb 185 x 11...... WOW ! really NICE !!![]()
The maximum this chip will do is at 2.415 (fsb 210 x 11.5), Vcore 1.8 V, but would become somewhat unstable once temps breach 50 degrees. I should really strive for good cooling. I also feel that for all intents and purposes the practical limit of the xp333r is fsb 210. I am therefore in much anticipation at the possibilities of the Infinity Ultra.
Well as they say....it has been a great and rewarding experience with the xp333r.....difficult to match, but it's time to move on !!!

Wasnt it really expensive ordering from Japan? I have 2 NF2's and going the rocky road to DFI for another measly 20mhz is not going to quell my need for speed. My two run fast enough, waiting for an Infinity Ultra which i ordered in Tokyo
I would rather save-up for a new video card.
"Use the NForce3 Luke"
Butt......
Let us just say the Rgonester is infectiously profuse about DFI.... so is Loggan !! That is why I find it difficult to resist. Yes I have heard about your rocky trail towards a not so satisfying improvement with the dfi mb and i just hope i will be much luckier. It would seem that in many it is a case of either hitting gold or mud!
Is $115, shipping included, expensive? Yes I fully agree that a better video card might be the better investment.......but you know it does not satisfy the itch to tweak as much as attempting fsb 250 !! WOW!!![]()

Ok, so you may prove successful if you have the primo ram and a lucky board. I just gather my opinion after studying the DFI forum for peeps still using NF7's full time.
