    DVD-ROM Keep Spinning

    I just wondering why my ASUS DVD-ROM keep spinning if there is disk in it. Is there any way to fix it.

    ASUS A7V8X-Deluxe Rev2 Bios 1007
    AMD XP 2800
    GEIL Ultra 2x256 Dual Channel

    Welcome to the forum. Try it with only power connected to the drive and no CD. If it keeps spinning then either the cd presense detector is dirty or the drive is bad. You can try blowing low pressure compressed air through the lower tray area to clear the sensor.

    If there is no CD it won't spin. It only happen when there is CD inside. I notice this since I bought this DVD-ROM. Is that a normal for ASUS DVD-ROM. I also have CD-RW in my rig. It only happen to DVD-ROM not to CD-RW.

    I don't think there is a problem. CD drives generally do spin down after a period of inactivity when a disk is present in the drive. Can you detect that happening?
