    Partitioning of HD

Can widows XP partition a HD or do I need third party software to do it with? If I need software can anybody recommend a free utility as I'm only going to need it just once. If not what comercial software will be good to get.

You can Partition and format the Drive using the Windows installation disk. If you feel you have to break your Drive into multiple Partitions what I do is create the OS partition during the installation then created the other Partitions in "Disk Mangement" after the installation is all done.

Windows XP pro will partition your HD however you want to partition it, and it's a lot cleaner interface than the FDISK crap that we used to have to deal with. Most HD manufacturers include a disk with their HD's nowadays that will partition the drive also. I know maxtor and wester digital do.
