    Can I cut my IDE cable?

    I have a KT3 Ultra ARU. can I cut the end plug off my IDE cable? Not the blue one I just need to connect to the Motherboard RAID sockets?
    KT3 Ultra ARU 5.7 bios ,2500 Barton w Volcano 9 HSF, 512 Mushkin 2700 blue, Antec True380 PSU, 2x 120GB 8MB Maxtor HDD in stripped RAID array, 1 40GB Maxtor HDD for back-up and page file, Sapphire 9800SE w , Omega drivers,Arctic Cooler, Audigy I w Audigy II drivers and Soundblaster Live Drive 3 Lite-on optical drives 52x CD-ROM, 24x CD-RW, DVD

    no,why would you do that?

    Generally speaking, you can cut the "master" connector off of a cable, and it will continue to work properly, given that you jumper the drive on the "slave" connector as master. This does not always work.

    no harm trying it, at worst you will jsut destroy an IDE cable

    Works like a dream. I took my buck knife and WHACK I now do not have a mess going from my mother board to my RAID array.
