Re: Help Me Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sata Just Disappear
Welcome CCC..!!
Sorry, it is understand stressfull circumstances!!!
Does the Drive show up in the Sata controller Bios or "Disk Management". Just what is your Sata controller and, MotherBoard have you doubled check all your connections, Data and Power?
Re: Help Me Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sata Just Disappear
CCC,
I am not entirely sure if you are telling us the problem correctly. Think you may have confused the word RAID with array.
You last description appears to suggest that you put the first SATA as RAID 1. Well RAID normally uses two HDDs. RAID 1 is the mirror mode. You should end up with just one SATA because the other one has been specified by you as a permanent back up, acting as a mirror to the first. RAID 1 mirror mode is for duplicating everything so that in case of a HDD failure you still have one complete good copy. It is for people needing absolute security of their data.
Your files should all be inside the SATA that youcan see, They should all be there unless you have dismantled your RAID system by mistake.
In RAID you don't see two SATAs. I use RAID 0 strip mode. my 2 x200 Gb Maxtor appear as one HDD with 400 Gb. So the disks are there. It is just the way you have specified their use, probably without prior experience.

Actuallly CCC..., I Believe is correct in his terms. With the Promise Controller if it does not have a option to set it to ATA mode you have to define an array. It will actually appear in the BIOS setup as an Single Drive Raid array. I know it makes no sense that is just how the Promise Controllers work.
Re: Help Me Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sata Just Disappear
To be honest I am confused too. My experience was based on K8T & K4T Ultra.
K8T offers two on-board controllers, Promise 378 and VIA 8237, to do raid.
I accidently put a single SATA on Raid 0 on KT4 and it has worked perfectly.
Have tried the Promise 378 connection for response before but eventually went for the VIA 8237 so don't know Promise 378 behaviour.
My experience is somewhat similar to themortarman. The board always reports two SATA presence at the hardware level but in the BIOS set up the second SATA is simply NOT available as a choice for booting. This is logical to me in a RAID system.
At the software level in Windows, both at desktop and in command mode, there is only one hard disk.
If the two SATAs are configured as non-RAID HDD then they will of course appear as two separate drives.
Re: Help Me Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sata Just Disappear
If your motherboard has an option to set the PRomise controller to "ATA" mode it won't be necessary to Define an array. I don't think this board has this option. So you have to setup what is called a SINGLE DRIVE RAID. Again I know it makes no sense it is something specifiic to Promise controllers.
