    Athlon 64 System Help Please.

I have just recently put together a new system.

    I have a Athlon 64 3400+
    MSI K8N Neo Platinum
    1GB ram (512mb x 2 Giel Golden Dragon PC3500 Cas2 3-3-3-6)
    Radeon 9700 Pro
    ATI Tv Wonder Pro
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZX Platinum Pro
    Adaptec 29320A-R SCSI RAID CONTROLLER
    4 10k rpm 74gig IBM Ultrastar U160 SCSI Drives in raid 0
    1 15k rpm 18gig Segate Cheetah X15 36lp
    Pioneer 105S SCSI DVDROM
    Koolance PC601BW Case
    CPU300G waterblock
    GPU180 waterblock
Antec True Control 550 Power Supply.

All 5 hard disks are in an external enclosure with dedicated 300 watt power supply

    System is not overclocked (yet)
    All IDE Controllers are OFF
    Onboard Sound is OFF

    Problem Number 1.

With the Adaptec controller in raid mode, loading the raid driver. Only two cards in the system are the video card and the Adaptec Raid Controller. If the raid has been freshly built I can partion and format the raid array and it will copy the windows files to it. When the computer reboots for the first time i get a drive read error. (drives work fine in another system in raid and fine on this system out of raid). If i try to install the system again without deleting and rebuilding the raid i get a blue screen the first time the windows install goes to starting windows before you press F8 to agree.

    Problem Number 2.

I turned off raid on the Adaptec Controllers Bios and used the non raid driver to install windows. I then put the sound card and the Adaptec card in any available combination of remaining slots and when windows loads up it immediatly reboots.

I am seriously considering returning this motherboard and getting a different one that may have less compatibility problems with my hardware configuration.

    any suggestions?

    Thank you,
    Keith

Not one response from this crew, geeez......

MSI and Adaptec both say it is a shadow RAM conflict. Neither offered a fix though.

Sound Card problem is because of the firewire controller on it. I cant turn on the onboard firewire or i get the reboot also.

I got an RMA for the MSI board and am gonna try the Abit K8V Pro K8T800 Pro board.

Was a shame i really like the features and layout of the MSI board I wish they had a fix for me.
