    Ga-8knxp

Hey guys, you know I love ya, gimmie some love back

    I just got in a service piece with a GA-8KNXP and a P4 3.06Ghz.
    1024 GB corsair XMS-3200LL CPT, and a 5200FX vid card, Antec True380PSU.

So far, he complains of no post. He was browsing, then bam, monitor goes into standby, and the pc is still running. Now, the PC won't post at all (power goes to the mobo though). I've tried:

    1) Bios clear
    2) Remove 1 DDR, try different DIMMs
    3) Change AGP card
    4) Remove DPS module
    5) Boot with minimum components.

Also, when RAM and video card are removed the computer doesn't give me a bios beep error or anything. It just powers the motherboard and refuses to post.

It sounds like a fried bios to me. What you guys think?

Also, if this is a fried bios, as usual, dual bios did absolutely nothing, and the backup bios did not boot. Is there a key I press during bootup to force a backup bios boot?

Again, thanks guys, you are teh bestest.

With the problems starting when the computer was running I would tend to say the CPU may be a likely culprit, so if you can shove another in.

Would the motherboard give a beep error if there were no CPU? I don't remember if it would or not. I'll see if I can find another CPU around to try...

No beep code for intel's, Sounds to me like the CPU went.

That sounds like something that happened to me a while back, except I was using a GA-7VRXP mobo. I was also using an Antec TruePower PS, but cannot remember what size. I had to disconnect the PS from AC and reseat the CPU. Not sure which one of those steps actually made it work again, but it did the trick. It did that a couple more times over the course of 6 months. Now, the mobo is in the kids PC with a different PS though and no problems for about a year now. Kinda makes me think it was the PS, but I guess I'll never know.

I guess you could try that and if no-go then I would agree with WildChild: CPU

Alright. Thanks guys. I'll try the PSU reseat/CPU reseat technique Unfortunately, I don't have another P4-3.06HT to try out If I can find anotehr compatible CPU I'll give a CPU switch-out a go.

I have the same exact problem. The keyboard lights wont come up and no BIOS post. Could it be the motherboard? or do you think the CPU?
